Both Vodafone and BT WAP gateways will support higher limit than 3 Kb, you just have to have the right phone for the job - when the phone connects to the Gateway, they negotiate a limit - SE T68i is 3Kb through the browser.
Having had this conversation on another thread, no-one has yet written down a combination of firmware, access info, WAP gateway and content greater than 3 Kb that I have seen a T68i pull through.
The other issue of course is LDT - Large Data Transfer - the gateway does also need to support this ...
