becuase he can!

aint that the basics of Sony Ericsson users!?
why do we need to have a car we can control with bluetooth or why do we need a laserpointer we can attach to our phone!? because we can!
I thought his reason was because he is cheap.

Got me wrong mate. I am not rich. Sometimes, sometimes in the end it might be better to just buy the one you want rather than settle. I am speaking from EXPERIENCE.

Hi, I'm new here..and was planning to buy a new cellphone (after 3/4 years using my nokia 3310 hehe) and this SE's seems to be very nice, but I have some questions:
1: Are the k750i and w800i perfectly identical to each other? (even the battery and the phone's power consumption?)
So what is the point of SE???
I mean SE should know k750i users can just flash their cellphone to w800i, so they can enjoy the Flightmode too..
2: Does the k750i have crappy keys? I heard they 'creak' when pressing them or something, what is the keypad like? A tiny review of this someone?
3: Isn't the lens cover pretty fragile? I assume if you need to drag it open/close all the time it will break loose?
Thanks!

1. Yes they are identical, no users cannot just flash the software from W800 to the K750, its technically possible yes, but 1. you will lose your warranty by doing so, if the phone needs to be repaired and you cannot flash back to k750 firmware, you will not be able to get it repaired under warranty. 2. you will no longer be able to update via SEUS but have to keep buying updates from unauthorized firmwareflashers. 3. you may never be able to update to a newer firmware because the unauthorized firmwareflashers may not be able to keep getting hold of new w800 firmwares. I fully agree with sapporobaby, if you want a w800, its best to buy a w800, considering the bigger memorycard and better headset, the cost of the phone itself isnt that different from the K750.
2. The keypad is very nice, it doesnt creak at all, keys feel very firm and nice to press. Not to soft, not to hard, just perfect. Way better keypad than K700 for instance.
3. The lens cover is not fragile at all, its thin yes, but made of very strong material, it will not break loose.

thanks! now i'm probably going to buy the k750i
and if i wait like for a couple of months there probably will be a better w800i firmware, so i can use the flight mode anyway..why not? i'm going to use the mp3player most of the time, and a battery life of 30hours is prette awesome
but is there a chance, SE will release a firmware for the k750i with Flight mode enabled? that would be great too..
and btw how can i flash my firmware, just with the usbcable that is included? right? or do i have to buy it seperately?

That entirely depends on where you live and where you have bought your phone. Only time this may be entirely true is if you live in one contry, but have bought your phone in another country.

I'd disagree Arne
Im pretty sure that any unauthorized flashing of nonstandard firmware will void warranty in any country regardless if you bought it in the same country or not.
The phone is flashed with a firmware not designed for this phone, and the phone is flashed with a firmware that has been illegally obtained by nonauthorized flashers, and is flashed by unauthorized people.
Thats a pretty strong case for S//E to deny to repair under warranty.

numb,
SE can say what they want. But at the end it is the local law in the country that you live and have bought the phone that regulates the validity of the warrenty and there is definitely a variance there.
Its pretty much like saying, a person is not allowed to install any other OS or software on a PC than the manufacturers choice for the warrenty to be valid. At least I have not heard about such claim.
I know however that SE will do whatever it is in their power to stop this kind of reflashing and try to claim the warrenty is not valid. But at least here in Sweden, customers have pretty strong protection by law when it comes to warrenty.
My suggestion is simply, before you flash W800 SW on K750. Check with your local authority what is valid in your country.
