why not just wait for the firmware upgrade online?

All very well but IMO the issues aren't firmware related as its not just affecting O2 handsets, but pretty much all of them including SIM free (although I appear to be fortunate and experience no issues). There certainly seems to be a large bad batch out there - people either have all the problems or none of them, and since everyone is running the same firmware it must be a hardware problem or manufacutring defect with some of them.
For example a number of people have reported crashes when transferring over bluetooth or rotatiing photos, and of course the standby crashes none of which I have ever experienced.

No you can't say people either have all the problems or none of them, that's nonsense as you can plainly see from other topics in the forum. I have had no standby crashes yet I have had 2 bluetooth crashes.

It just teething problems unfortunately, with something this new things are going to go wrong because the product is going out to mass audience - just look at Windows XP!

So far, fingers crossed, i've had no issues with my O2 branded K750, one 1 crash after taking a phone, nothing else and i've been messing around with it a lot recently - pehaps it was a bad batch, i can't believe that SE would produce faulty handsets, its not in thier interest (from a PR and recall point of view).

The standby crash does sound pretty awful thou - i really can't understand why that one fell throu the net.

As for returning my K750 to O2 - no way! I'ts working fine, made that mistake last time and got a crappy nokia replacement - not again! I'm sure any issues can be ironed out in firmware updates (sounds like one will be out pretty soon), and its easier this time that the cable is supplied.

I really do feel sorry for all those K750 owners having problems, its such a great phone, shame its let down by teething issues.

Had my 2nd K7501 about 10 days now, from an o2 store. First one went back with BT problems. This one seems fine - not a single crash. Was initially tempted to return it when I read this thread, but on 2nd thoughts have decided "if it aint broke, don't fix it" . Will keep a look out for new firmware online though.
