The only LOSS of functionality I see in this phone is the Xenon flash. I'm SOOO used to turning on the LED light on my K750i in the dark to use it as a flash light. Other than that - can't wait to finally get a decent SE phone from Cingular (and one that will finally be using the proper frequencies and give me less spotty coverage).
not to forget people bitching about the vdo quality of this phone can just go get the w900 or wait for sonyericsson to put out the new phone that has better vdo recording and its due out this year it will be a slider version and get that one

They screwed everyone for months last year with poor video quality in the K750i and W800i firmware, until R1N was released in September to fix the video bitrate. And now they dont even update something which should be rather minor, which in turn gives me the impression somewhere they are cutting corners, saving money, being total skinflints.
Everything about the K800i i love, i think its a great looking phone, and i love the new menu fonts, the bigger QVGA screen and the fact it has all new features like the Xenon flash. But why hold back on something so simple ? there has to be an underlying reason. The W900i and P990i (apparently) have bigger video recording resolution, so why not add it in their new phone ?
At the end of the day, i'll probably end up buying both a K800i, and a P990i, and chances are i'll be happy with both, but id rather have a single converged device which offers me the smartphone features i want, with the high level of quality optics and audio that a phone like the K800i will produce rather than having to carry around two devices like ive been doing for the past few years.
Oh and btw, one of my other major gripes regarding the K800i was the M2 sticks, however after finding that they'll soon be available in 1gb capacity and rather cheap in price, thats one plus point in the K800i's favour.

Well right now for me its a toss up between buying either a P990i, a Nokia N80, or one of the latest compact iMate devices.
The K800i i will probably buy simply because i dont always want or need to carry around a larger phone.

I think eventually everyone who moans about the k800 will get one anywa just becasue o the sheer lack of patience for the so called HD phones. Im sure SE will release phone just for video but for that sort of video quality to enjoy thephone you need at least a 2gb card and the new size only goes up to 512mb or a 1gb if im correct.
The k800 will be one of the phones of the year if not the best.

after long thought, i think i'll probably get the k790, mainly because you'll probably pay more for the k800 right? because its got 3g. but i thought that i probably wouldn't actually use the 3g, and also with the second camera lens on the front, it means more maintaining. overall i think the k790's edge would benefit me more... is this the only difference between them?

The price is as with most SE phones (bar the p series) pretty reasonable. Between 300-400 Euros depending on which country your in.
In the UK you should expect to get this handset free for a £25-30 month tarrif to begin with.
what about pay as you go? is there an estimate for the price of the phone non-contract?

well according to mobile review K800 is nothing more fancy than the K750, well except for the fact that it has 3.2MP cam, with xenon flash, an EDGE/UMTS/3G versatility. and take note, it has an onboard 3D accelerator yet none of them was used for video, possibly for game support and other apps. but what the accelerator suppose to do is give a boost for the much larger screen display. (am i right?). and about the media player... i dont se anything new in there. but theres a slight improvement compared to W800/K750.
well just like K750, users were amazed by the powerful cam capabilities, i guess thats where K800 will be leading... well in some way or two..
of course, thats what ive understand...
