First of all, you dont to do the settings manually. If you have the PC suite for K750, it can set the connection up automatically. I have used mobilink on my desktop with K750 and i got 4.5kb/sec.

I heard a very pious friend of mine say: Cursing mobilink is Ja'iz. My sincere prayer: May God make mobilink people close shop and haul away.

I'll be going to Pakistan for the first time this summer..

A few questions!

Whats the best network in terms of network coverage and gprs
and the cost of gprs, which I believe i'll be using alot!

Are there 3g cards in pakistan for wireless Internet that I can use on my laptop? If not then what are the alternatives other than dialup??

In terms of coverage, its Mobilink, in terms of service, its Warid, in terms of both, its Telenor. We have no 3G, but mobilink and telenor provides EDGE service.
You can get wireless broadband internet service, but not sure who provides it.

I am on a Mobilink Postpaid connection. The cost of GPRS is Rs 500 per month fixed.

When I am in an area of Edge coverage I get a speed of 15 KiloBytes / Second with occassional bursts of 25 Kilobytes / second.

For areas where Edge is still not active I get speeds of around 3 to 5 kilobytes / second.

Mobilink GPRS coverage is quite good. The entire M1 motorway is covered. I occassionally go to a city called Khewra this is also covered. Recently I went to Hyderabad and could get GPRS over there as well.

Regards

I have been using ML GPRS for 4 months in Abbottabad. Its pretty good. Average DL speed is 3 Kbps. Browsing on my i-mate Jamin is also good. Surprisingly, recently I drove to Nathiagali & Ayubia and ML with GPRS Coverage was present till Ayubia except for about total 20 min patch before & after Bagnotar. Warid coverage was only present in Ayubia, Ufone also had poor coverage. A few months back, i visited Thandiani and ML coverage was present there 2....wow ML coverage is great...
