I'm predicting MWC will see the launch of the Z4 series.

Z4 Tablet will debut and it will be lightest, waterproof, 10" inch tablet you can buy. By the end of 2015 we will see three devices making up the Z4 series - Z4, Z4 Tablet and a Z4 Tablet Extra. A 4" phone and 10" and 12" slates.

Well after a disappointing CES it's onto MWC come the 2nd of March which runs until the 5th. It is only 8 weeks away and as like everyone else I'm very eager to see what Sony has hidden up its sleeve for us. I think it's a given we'll see the Z4 and possibly a new tablet to go along with the E4 which has been leaked and reviewed well ahead of release.
So just a re-cap of the rumored spec sheet for the Z4

Xperia Z4
5.2" full HD, Triluminos display with X-Reality for mobile
Qualcomm SD810 SoC
4GB of RAM
32GB internal storage + Micro SD slot
Front facing stereo speakers
S-Master HX digital amp
IP68 certified
21MP rear camera (possibly IMX230)
5MP selfie camera
3000+ mAh battery with QI wireless charging (possible case needed like Z3)
Android 5.0 Lollipop

Would anyone be disappointed with that spec sheet? the only thing missing for me is an IR blaster, and considering most people are tied into 24m plans those early adopters of the original Xperia Z will get one hell of an upgrade that's for sure.

Don't think that will happen, specially now when they released that Walkman. Perhaps they will have some software gimmick with that name, that's it. New flagships having sound chips have been rumored every year for as long as I can remember, never happens

Sony is using MediaTek MT5595 SoC in their new Bravia TVs.

definitely agree that there will be no physical sound amp chip in Z4. they released a walkman like motvikt said. they might advertise something along those lines, but it won't be the same.

look forward to seeing it though

I think I may have dropped my Z1 too many times

Would it not have been more awesome if Sony opted for nVidia SoC instead of Qualcomm.
At least in the Z4 Ultra and in their tablets.

@McKinley

I don't think so,
1- NVIDIA chips tends to be power hungry
2- the focus is too much on GPU, the latest Tegra X1 for example has the most powerful GPU yet ( as how they mentioned and some websites got early benchmarks, 60K Antutu )... but it uses 8x A53 cores, not the more powerful A57 one. even if only four.
3- NVIDIA is not known to be developer friendly company specially for previous Tegra SoC's

@Xajel

I tend to disagree with you this time

Latest Nvidia's effort in PC discrete graphic card (The Maxwell 2 on GTX 900 family) is really amazing how they can squeeze out power management eventually they still struck on 28nm fab process. In other hands, the TX1 is 4x4 CortexA57-53 combine together with 256 Maxwell core built on latest 20nm process same as Apple A8 from TSMC and they claim 1 teraflop power computing that consume only 10w thermal design power.

Some concern is no modem baseband built on die chip and yes Nvidia is kinda not dev friendly in the past.

@HxH

My points were from previous Tegra SoC's, it might be different this time as NVIDIA did the Maxwell cores very well. but is this enough for a mobile SoC ? the benchmarks only showed performance and all previous Tegra SoC's showed this first with amazing results.. but later when real-world battery life comes there was disappointments...

I was mistaken by the 8x A53 cores config as I saw that on two websites and thought this is the real thing... but now it's correct as you said it's actually a big.LITTLE configuration with 4x A57 + 4x A53 which is nice...

The problem bro is that 10W is still very high for a mobile phone SoC, and the 1TFlops comes mainly from the GPU cores of the SoC but the general ARM core will have something also to share with this 1TFlops.

According to notebookcheck.com the Snapdragon 801 is using 3-4W depending on configuration, while the Snap 805 uses 3-5W depending on the configuration. so the X1 is more than double 801 and double 805 in it's maximum power.

And the last thing you already mentioned, the lack of modem.. and this will mean increased cost not to mention that more power will be needed to power both the SoC and the modem, while the 801 + 805 already has a modem and the power is total of it...
