whenever i so much as think there may be a wasp in the vicinity, I'm gone.

Only in my house will I make a stand (it's my house after all) but otherwise I'll just try to keep a great a distance from them as i possibly can

I don't mind bees, but i have a bad fear of wasps, because, when we moved in to a new house once, i went out to play in the front garden, and was stung by a wasp, as there was a nest there. I was then told to go and play in the back, and was stung by a wasp there, as there was another nest.

So whenever a wasp is about, i make an effort, to either avoid it, or smack it really hard/trap it.

@Vlammetje: It's called a fly swatter I like the coke bottle idea though

I have no garden, I live in an apartment on the 1st floor. i have a tiny balcony in which I tried a couple of pots with plants once but none of them survived

And I have the deepest fear of wasps since once as a child I was stung in my armpit (wasp flew into my t shirt). I yelled so hard to entire neighbourhood dropped what they were doing and came to the rescue

My mom was in a panic but I never knew exactly why, learned later on that the armpit is not the best place to get stung by wasps, especially when you have a bad reaction to it.

My arm swelled up like a balloon and I couldn't put it down for days

And I had learned something that day, i had encountered the wasp.

My next sting came when folding laundry.... it had gotten into a sock or something similar.

Since then i don't wait around for the next sting.

I head butted a wasp nest when i was 13... It was an accident(I could list all my accidents but i think i'd push the thread to 3000 pages, believe me there's been some damn unlucky ones). 86 stings in all... Most of which were on my head and face... Went blind in one eye and everything!!

Beat that
