seems to have the same kind of spec as the x1 though, does it have any significant advances over the X1?

It also has a very similiar form factor.

Yeah true, but I don't like the look of the touch pro that much. It's boring next to the x1, plus I prefer the angled keyboard of the x1 which I feel will be ergonomically superior.

C905 has tv out, so I'm still pretty keen to look at the C905, and either keep my Samsung i780 or get the X1 if I can get on contract (my contract will be up not long after the X1 comes out), but keep the C905 as my main handset.

Still, I'd like to get a closer look at the touch pro, after giving it a test run I might be satisfied with it as a true AIO.

tbh I think smartphones still need a little while to go before they are small enough to suit my needs in an AIO. I'm waiting for an X1/Touch Pro form factor device but more in the size of a K800 or K850.

@max

If you're waiting for the X1 you might as well wait a bit longer and get a WM7 based handset on newer chipsets, that would be worth waiting for. I suppose it should be late December , early Jan before the X1 hits Australia

@max_wedge
K850_____102 x 48 x 17_____118g
X1_______110.5 x 52.6 x 17__158g
TouchPro_102 x 51 x 18.1____165g

K850 and X1 are damn near the same size
What are you waiting for (besides the X1 release date ) ?

@aksd
Why would you have max_wedge wait for phones that aren't even announced yet? IMO, I think HTC and SE will sell versions of the TouchPro and X1 with WM7 installed BEFORE they release their new-platform based WM7 phones.

@WhyBe

Wouldn't that depend on if the current processor and Graphics chips on the X1 and Touch Pro are even going to capable of running the new software or not? As that is something that no one is yet sure of or not.

@all

I have just heard that a OMAP3 powered device is now expected Q1 2009 so for me that means i will hold off on any purchase until they have been announced. As so far all these devices launched or soon to be launched don't improve or in some cases even match my current device. Whilst the next Generation chips really will deliver a large improvement over the current Generation being used as will run anywhere between 600mhz - 1ghz and have vastly improved graphics capabilities some may even be offering HD quality and right up to 1080i. These next generation devices are much more than just a slight upgrade they are a huge leap forward with greatly reduced boot times and much faster performance. Lag will become a thing of the past no matter what you are doing with your device.

Basically because phones reach OZ much later than elsewhere. And if he is planning to buy a phone in the near future imo the Touch Pro is better as its available now. I could ask you the same question about why you're asking him to buy a phone thats not available

For me, personally, it has now become a race to the finish line between the touch pro (marginally superior IMO, but not quite so pretty), and the X1.

As i will be getting one of these two as a contract upgrade (O2 UK), it just depends which one is released by O2 first.

Info reaching my ears at the mo says the touch pro (O2 XDA ???) will not hit till october end, so X1 has time for a late sprint to the finish line.

To be honest, i dont mind either phone, as the insides are so similar, its not a huge choice.

Im starting to believe AKSD and his non canon screen res concerns, with third party apps, and the HTC does have a tad more memory at the mo, and the accelerometer.

Xperia still has time to change its final specs, however.

Must admit, im getting fed up waiting, though.
