Samsung's have good hard discs, lg for cd burner, sony for fdd and dvd burners. Check the link blue provided a while back to digit forums to know why samsung drive suck. Apparently samsungs optical drives are treated with the same attitude that Esato is giving to its phones - shit!

I can vouch for APC @Gov if you taking/ took it... just make sure that whenever you get the batt. replaced its a proper one (OEM type have short life with headache)..
That dvd writer Hass (or blu) mentioned from Sony, ought to be good..
I had had issues (as usually) & fell short of taking a sony dvd re writer
Bombay distributors practically only have Sony & its good too..
Now I am thinking of getting some money back by re selling the SyncMaster 713n (Monitor) & HP 1020 (printer) I took few months back...
could divert the monies to say bye bye (finally) to my old workhorse PIII 650Mhz !!! poor thing.. held me 7-8 years now
