Mine just shows 900, 1800 and 1900 in the configuration menu of the service settings. It has never said UMTS whatsoever and I get a 3g signal still.

Interesting. I do not think that this is an error or oversight. I think that it might be showing the three primary signal bands. Then again I could be wrong. I will ask my friend from SE and see if he knows.

You are correct. The configuration menu only shown the 3 primary bands. It has never shown UTMS as a band since buying the phone last September with the original release firmware.

Can't comment on the K800, but my k790 has never showed EDGE under the settings menu, only the primary quad-bands, so one could reason that the data bands are not shown on the settings menu

I also think flash with 790 firmware when it does not show umts on software info and 3g icon not shown.

The new K810i is coming. Learning from W800i history, the f/w update ends as W810i comes. The same thing may happen to K800i. What we want as the improvements may be found in K810i. There may be little possibility that more f/w updates will be released in the future. Just 1 more update after R1JC002 I think. Perhaps the final camera version for K800i. So, do you want to upgrade phone? Not me. IMHO, K810 is just K800 with slight improvement and design. I'd better wait for K850i..with its 5 mp camera module. 3rd quarter perhaps?
