That's very tempting for someone who needs ATT 3G (like me!), but I'd have to get a much more expensive monthly data plan. If I can manage to grab an unlocked X10, I may be able to get unlimited data for $10/month, as long as ATT doesn't pick up the X10 and force me onto the more expensive plan. I'm glad they released this version of the Nexus one though, it'll force companies to up their game a little bit and make some kickass Android phones.
Yea, see the thing is, Sony Ericsson is going to have to price the X10 very reasonably unlocked for it to even be cost effective not to get the N1.
If they debut it at $699 and you buy it. You would save $480 ($20x24months) over the length of the standard two year contract (by not having to get the expensive plan). Which brings the cost down to $219. Would cost about the same if they subsidized (sold it for $199) it and made you add the $30 data plan too.
Thats the knock against the N1. AT&T is still going to force you into the $30 data plan plus you'll pay $529 + tax for the handset.

that's why my plan is to buy the X10 unlocked. get my highly discounted upgrade phone from AT&T, sell the upgrade from AT&T on ebay. use that money to make up for the X10's unlocked price. and use my current plan with unlimited text and data.

Perhaps because it's not manufactured in any other color (look at their site and see it only comes in black).

Clove seem to be the cheapest so far, and I know they have a very good reputation.. I have seen some other members mention Handtec though and there price is pretty close at £488.20? Guess it's who you trust most, also unsure as to p+p or either of these as have never used them myself.. Play has free p+p but a handset price of £499, and I suppose they are a pretty big name, although I've never bought a phone from them...
Also saw this article on GSMA and thought it may be of interest to other prospective X10 owners...

Looks pretty handy.. I have to say what with the recent news about WM7 and the continuing control that Apple exerts over their Apps and phones, Android certainly seems to have the greatest community/homebrew feel to me of these OSs.
Also found this on Endgadget so more encouragement..
"There are about 30,000 apps available on Android Market, which is more than double the number of apps that were available just four months ago. Additionally, we've seen app purchases increase more than 3 times in that same four month period. So we're not only seeing more developers bringing apps to Android Market, but Android users are also purchasing more apps."
