The new FW (r1aa008) is not out on the

Update Service yet. But if you feel like you can't wait a few days, you can go in to a

service center (they should have it) and have it upgraded

Since this is an overview thread, I would suppose this type of post is appropriate.
I am trying to weigh fw's.
I have W800i R1K001 loaded on my K750i. I see that R1N035 (and the two new fw's that incorporate these features) has better reception and longer battery life, among other fixes and such. I do kinda wish electronics and software companies released a list of bugs along with their list of features, but in mean time (two words?) I've been reading around trying to find the general consensus on the R1N035+ fw's.
I'm here in Phoenix, Arizona (state immediately west of California), and 850 is the supported low freq, so my phone is always operating at 1900 afamug (as far as my understanding goes).
Now, unless it would be easier and take less time to strip out the band chips and install american version (or a quadband), I do desperately need that better reception (I get either one or none bars here at work). So my question is how much of a reception boost can fw provide, and is it worth the effort?
This probably coulda been done in a new thread, but I dont even know if I have that capability (although I havent tried).
final note off topic: I would like to know, if anyone has an idea, if it's indeed possible to switch k750i from 9 18 19 hundred to 8.5 18 19 hundred. I'm guessing not, but I'm not an electronics/radio engineer. *shrugs*
EDIT: I was told by some guy at a cingular store that California has 900 operating frequency in some places, but I never tried to confirm.

The cingular guy is either grossly misinformed or smokin' crack (or both. I dunno). CA Cingular is 850/1900. There is 800Mhz but that is Nextel/Sprint's iDen network.
Checked it out on Wirelessadvisor.com ...

Well, the improvment in signal strenght, from my personal experience; isn't much. In fact, it didn't improve at all for me; plus, one bug is that the signal display indicator is screwed up in the upgrades...
For example; you'd get full, 3, 4 bars at random, even when displaying "Emergency Only" on the phone (No signal), so it doesn't reflects the actual signal. Not that it did that perfectly before neither...

Hola!
Do you mean that you have upgraded? Didnīt you get a W800i with the (best and working) R1L002?

@Dan
The signal strength bars you see when your phone shows "emergency calls only" are from the network you could roam on to make an emergency call. It's always been like that on my W800 and my former S700, I don't think it's a bug. Now if you're in a spot without any network coverage whatsoever, and you still see these bars show up, then you're in trouble I think.

Meanwhile somewhere in Italy a guy is trying to update his K750i...
...Italian SEUS still is a NO GO.
"You lose, try again! You'll get more luck!"
Have a nice day,

@ fu1at
Did you use SEUS to update your K750i to R1AA008 or did you take it to a service centre?
