Turn Macro ON.
When in range 1.1-4.0 (+/-) click half-shutter for preview with zoom (you can ON/OFF zoom preview by clicking half-shutter),
now (when zoom is on) you can adjust focus very precisely (+/-),
when picture is most sharp you can:
- press sutter to take picture with SPOT (very useful with macro shooting)
or
- click half-shutter again (the zoom will go off and SPOT will be disabled)
and now press shutter to take picture. enjoy!
can anyone able to help me out with some explanation on the SPOT and the light cc/vivid thingy...
by the way anyone did any adjustment for flash attachment?
Thanks///

To exposure properly the picture the automatics must calculate the illumination of the scene. This can be done only by analysing the preview, there are a lot of algorithms of such analysis, but here we need only two of them: centerweighted photometry and spot photometry.
To avoid a technical details i say only one thing: centerweighted photometry uses a whole preview while spot photometry uses only a small area in the middle of the preview (screen) and ignores everything else. Or other words: centerweigted photometry tries to exposure properly whole scene while spot photometry tries to exposure properly only an object in the middle of the screen.

Can you tell me how to increase shutter speed in your k800 mod driver when macro is on ? The pictures took with EM is very clear but still long enough for me to get blur picture -_-' I think i'll try to change its value to fit my need. If you can tell me where to change it, thank you.

open the camdrivers and find this line "
$s0 3B $-0 r1" in the "EN" , "ENM"
just replace the "
3b" with the "
30"
example: "
$s0 30 $-0 r1 "

Well, i've check your driver. But i can't find EN and ENM section, just LedEM and FENM. And '$s0 3a $-0 r1' instead of '$s0 3b $-0 r1'. Which one i have to change?

Why do you use a beta firmware? =) But i don't think that this is the firmware problem. Only one time i saw such problem... because jzipman has "eaten" the end of the file while unpacking it.

@SPU
i don't have any problems with this firmware so i don't see any reasons to exchange it. problem is solved - i didn't notice that firefox does not write .dat at the file name end :/
ok concretes... after very quick test (10 different photos) i can say that photos don't have constant compression. most files has 92% that's obvious because driver always aims to defined level. some files has 90% but it's very easy to get pictures with 88%. every time i was using default values only (no supermode). all drivers which i've tested behave in the same way so it's nothing wrong ofcourse
one thing to note: default sharpness at 0 (why not 4 or 5?) gives gentle blur and this helps to get 92% but on higher values this isn't so nice (crashes).
all i can say it's good drv and if someone like supermode should try it!
ofcourse i can send you some photos for further inspection

maybe we go to PM?
BTW. i'm games programmer and i'm obliged to know principles of the compression (especially jpg) so i understand many things very well - i can be useful
