That's on now? Damn, I'm stuck writing an essay!

EDIT: Ah another disappointing result.

EDIT again: I should say I'm stuck "writing an essay"

Does this only happens to me?

For years I'm been carrying my laptop in my bag, my PDA in my pocket, my Cell in my belt, my camera on my neck, my gps in my car, my music player in my shirt pocket, dozens of sticky notes in my pants, my digital tape recorder on one wrist, my watch in the other...

I desperate wanted a tech SWISS KNIFE that can do it all.

VIVA LA DEAD ZONE!!!
Not because I wanted a huge MB, MHZ, nanoseconds I JUST WANT A SOLUTION TO MY LIFE

It's that XPERIA?
Anyone with me?

Well I can't guarantee you'll find a device, but I can guarantee you've found some fellow dead zone inhabitors!

Welcome to Esato!

Xperia X1 may do the trick.
Apple iPhone is the best device I know of as a laptop replacement which will do alot of what you decribed.
As Dogmann said, there's always an intentional compromise built in. Now we know why; perhaps some DeBono style lateral thinking could deminish the dead zone?

there are a few devices that match your requiremets. Actually there is a plethora of devices in the dead zone, but it depends how close to centre you want to go. For example do you need tv-out? if so X1 is not close enough to centre. If you don't need tv out, and you like the X1 formfactor and ergonomics, then X1 is your baby!

@carkitter
As you can see in my wish list the iPhone is the MOST REMOTE thing to my swiss knife.

As a laptop replacement if I can sync do my outlook, contacts, task, calendar and edit my MS office word, excel, powerpoint and a couple of graphic programs I will be more than happy.

See why I need a real querty ?

The rest of my wish list is already in the Xperia.

I'm sure mib will argue with you on that one.

He's the king of the one handed t-niners, reckons he can t-9 faster than anyone can type on a qwerty.

I don't know if I believe him though.

@pinguino2

Market research I've seen online says that 40% of US iPhone version 1 owners use their iPhone as a laptop replacement, a useage that has always been touted by PDA manufacturers but never delivered on as you and others still carry both. With the 3G version 2 and the new App store, some of those requirements of yours may be catered for.

I take your point regarding the ergonomics of a TS qwerty vs a proper keyboard, I can only say try one out and see...

It would seem like a WM device is best for you though.

Hi everyone. I joined this forum just for this topic.

I'm eagerly awaiting the X1 as well. I need it so that I can show it to my friends thereby pointing out the glaring deficiencies of the iPhone.

But really, I have read every single post on this topic. Roffle, you guys fight too much. I think we all just have to agree that the X1 is a very kick-arse, attractive device.... but also agree that there are other very kick-arse, attractive devices that are just as good, and that different devices suit different people better.

I just want SE to hurry up and release this thing, because it happens to suit my needs very well. And it looks cool. And I need something new to satisfy my expensive and unnecessary gadget craving.....
