One of the advantages of a phone with on screen buttons is that there is no paint to peel off, which normally happens after a year of so of moderate use.

And you can customize them.

yeah but try using a touch screen without looking at it....with physical buttons u can easily do that...also u can have ur fingers on top of the button without actually pressing them...and the click u get as a confirmation of a button press...sorry but no matter how good touchscreens get...they can never replicate the experience of physical buttons...and you will always get people who appreciate this experience....it is just a shame that the market does not seem to cater to these people anymore

Not unless they have a touchscreen with physical buttons:

and i thought Sony was trying to avoid copying device. They look the same to me. Small differences basically on screen pixel ratio, and size. There are no more small devices, just acceptable size low ends and huge higher speced ones. I remember sonyericsson was talking about innovation, well i'm not excited about anything. A few years ago i couldn't wait to see future phones and the choice was easier, because it was obvious which device was the flagship. Now i want one feature of that device and other feature of another model and another from another. The last phone Sony - Sonyericsson made me wanna buy it was Ray, specwise and compact. + beautiful. I do like phones like P now but its too big for my taste.

Sony's still got their small devices. The U is relatively compact, and the Sola's not exactly huge, either.

And if the SX ever makes it out of Japan, then we'll have our Ray successor.

Satio had 3.5inch display and was huge for my taste, even though i've bought it, anyway, i haven't play with a XU yet but sola was the maximum size i would buy, A friends' XS is a small tablet to me, i cant carry such device in my pocket, imagine a 4.6 inch device....

Personally I was just hoping for an x86 based tablet from Sony, like the slider concept they had at CES. Preferably running Intel Atom or an ULV Core i3 so it's fairly cheap.

Would make for an EXCELLENT device for a student like me, full keyboard (for typing essays) and proper windows (for programming) with the flexibility of a touchscreen (for handwriting notes as well as a better leisure device).

It would be ultra awesome if it dual-booted Android as well but that is very unlikely (although there is a Lenovo laptop that does something like that by incorporating a Qualcomm dual-core setup along with the Intel components)

Sony WILL launch Win 8 tablets this year. Do you think Sony Managing Director is crazy to say that Sony will launch Win8 tablets soon ?

They probably WILL launch Win 8 tablets, but not Win 8 RT tablets, apparently, if Microsoft really only allows a couple manufacturers...

I want sony to release an X86 tablet too, but using AMD trinity instead, graphics are more important than CPU nowadays especially for their intended function: internet browsing, entertainment, casual gaming (not saying we should get crysis running on a low power tablet ) CPU performance are more than adequate in trinity and besides that beats ivy bridge on performance per watt when in gaming
