Nokia has the best marketing. They are outselling the P-series with
the E-series next year. But that is due to the fact the E-series is
placed exteremely well into the market. The P990i is something else.
SE wants to show what they can do and build the best smartphone
outthere. It is marketed differently and can never be compared with
any E-series so far. The only device which you can compare it with
is maybe the N80, hp hw6700 serie or the Treo 650/700w. That is
all.

I'm a deadset fan of the Sony Ericsson P series.. I've owned each and every model available. If I just had enough money , I wouldnt even consider selling the outdated models.
But one thing I wish SE would improve on is its speed.. I kinda find SE to be on the slow side.
I just hope that the P990 wouldnt hang as much as it did with the P800. My P910 is 100% flawless....

Will 802.11b and 802.11G be much of a difference?
I mean whether B or G, most ISPs still provide 512kbps....
Anyone have ideas on this?

Well that depends in what country you live in. Here, in Sweden, 24Mbit/s is rather common in larger cities.

I've been in the woods way too long WHOAH!!!!

I will certainly be first in line to pick one of these babies up.. Despite some of its design flaws that I can speculate from the pictures it wil definately be an improvement from my other P- series. The only thing that has kept me going with this P910i after a year is the Blackberry software that I have been playing around with. Other then that my P900 and P800 are still collecting dust close to half a decade later.

Needless to say I'm impressed by these specs and it certainly rivals some of the garbage handsets I've been tinkering with like the Nokia 9500, HTC, Moto MPX, and Moto A1000. I still get wows over my P910 where those other phones only get a "huh"... Good job SE.. But I'm sure you customer service will still sucks when consumers try to get help on some of the bugs in this new unit.

This phone is bigger than k750, which means it has more room for a camera... Why only 2MPX when there already are 3MPX phones out there (seen on tv one in a report about a soap opera for mobiles being released in China)?

I'd imagine it's because of overall functionality and components that this unit employs. I've have a Samsung SCH-S250 handset I purchased through a SK Telecom for less then $500 quite a few months ago that has a built-in 5MP camera. That said, the marketing focus on that particular phone was on its camera. No other major frills offered other then the basics. So all the other shortcommings were totally accepted.

It's about efficiency of parts in an entire system. How to squeeze all that and cost together becomes a business decision. So again, I don't gather it's economically viable for SE to go that route without other raising red flags. Besides they figure that a high-res camera is not top priority for business/consumers looking @ their P-series. Those marketed high-res cam phones are for the bubble-gum industry kids.

I definately want this phone, I simply love the look and all the features. Is is now said that i has an improved t9, that will be better with the qwerty.
I like the OS, and having tried other phones (and PDA's) I found out that with the windows OS the device is always more a computer than a phone, and with the Pxxx it is a phone first and foremost. When I had the PDA's it would always sometimes freeze and I would loose calls and messages. This doesn't happen with the Pxxx.
Appreciate the radio, and the wlan, the only thing I am begging for is the 3.5mm headphone plug or even better yet, a 2.5 mm. plug, as in the Nokia N91.
They even say that the P990 will be relatively cheap, as SE wants to be able to compete with other companys.
I also would prefer that the P990 would be released now, and then I can easier wait for the applicationprograms. I look so much forward to this "Toy".

p990 does not have 3,5 mm or 2,5 mm jack .
I think it is because SE wants us to buy their stereo headsets.
Or BT ones
Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-PV700
Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-70
Bluetooth™ Music Handsfree HBM-30.

I think they should announce stereo BT headsets soon.

I hope that SE will able to release it ASAP so that we don't have to wait so long and with the right price.
