I have yet to see anything stating that the K800/k790 has a 3d accelerator, on the contrary I recall eldar's review specifically mentioning the LACK of a 3d accelerator. Could you point out where you saw this?

The K790 is nice looking but no WiFi really annoyes me. I live in Toronto, Ontario where this summer BIG players are offering WiFi free EVERYWHERE across this city for 3 months; mind you its already in most parts I goto anyway. EDGE is nice, 3G is better for quick burts but our providers are ripping the pants off of us here in Canada - so the cost is prohibitive. Its for entertainment/education ... it doesnt make me any money, so why should I make the providers coffers bigger?!
I'm with Etaab in my next phone ... P990; with I love the styling, no 850Mhz is gonna bug me but its not a need. I've learned to go topside or move about if my coverage is close to non-existent. The Nokia N80 is also sweet, My pictures with the K750i arent as good as I had hoped/seen from what Etaab has taken in his country side, so I'm worries that the P990i wont be any better. I'll post in the K750 thread soon enough to show you all what I mean. I'm thinking that 3MP even without auto focus would be much better. But although I'm used to the S60, I think the skinning and performance & BlackBerry Connect features of the P990i will be right up my ally. I'm gonna be needing it for work soon enough.
But I may just sit this year out of upgrading and hope for a BLACK P990i with 850Mhz band + 1900Mhz WCDMA/HSDPA for North America. But most likely I'll get a very thin Sony Camera & carry a new RIM 8700 or import the upcoming RIM 8707v (Vodafone.)

I honestly don't see the need for wifi on a phone like the K790. It's not a pda/phone it's not an organizer, so there's no point to it (IMO). As for a non-autofocus phone at 3mp, it'll look like crap. Having more pixels doesn't do you any good if you can't produce sharp images, and that is what the autofocus will give you.

That is if you are into photo taking with your cell. Should your priorities be somewhat different than wifi may be the better option.

getting off the thread's topic here but...
my point about the K790 is that it's a phone which in my opinion does not need wifi. The type of phone which should have wifi should have a decent type of keyboard or a touchscreen and in general should be more of an organizer and would end up being larger. The K790 is still at the candy-bar class phone (primary function) which doubles/triples as a decent camera and a decent mp3 player. That is how I plan on using mine once I get it

. My only wish is that Cingular would somehow convince SE to make a K800a for their UMTS network here in the US. I would pay a flat fee for that type of access considering I'd bluetooth it to my notebook and have decent speed internet anywhere I want it! Alas, I might just have to settle for EDGE.

So people, I've got a upgrade coming in June.
What do you think my chances are for a nice new black phone?
