Hi everyone. I haven't been checking the site as often as usual, so forgive me if this has been mentioned.

The first thing is not a bug or problem; its just an interesting occurrence. When turning the phone on, startup takes forever. But if it is off while charging and you turn it on, it loads up in a few seconds. Is there really a reason for this much difference in startup time?

Next is a problem with the video player. I think I read something similar about this before, but I couldn't find it. After watching a video for about 30-40 minutes, the video starts to be choppy and sometimes freezes the whole phone. Upon checking Task Manager, it reveals that neither Media Player nor Video Player are even active. Swiss Manager just shows Video Player as active. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Other than a few little quirks like this, I find the phone quick and stable. Hopefully the new firmware will be available Monday morning or maybe even before then. That should make things even better.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

SE (India) says that rebooting the phone 2-3 times a day will help. I say WHAT????

@navinadv, 1.5 days is the typical battery life for the standard BST-33 battery, so what you're getting seems fine.

Its been 20 days since I got my P990. Out of the box I upgraded to new Firmware R7A001. I had only one boot so far of the Phone. I have installed swiss manager which takes care of things. I have not installed any try and buy applications. Only 3rd party applications installed are:
Profimail; WorldMate, Opera Mini; jzip;mobipocket reader;capture screen; and Agile messenger.
Agile application everytimes give kernel panics on closing so I stopped using it.

I do multi tasking and have been enjoying my phone. I tested all in built applications and system resources. Gmail works very well.

I am very contented with the phone and have had not much of hangs, self booting till now. All my purpose is solved and i have no compliants except for memory ram issues which we all face till now.

Swiss manager has worked well for me to control that. How ever, I have noticed if you have messaging or any other big programme like camera or world mate opened for long, the task manager tries to close down few applications. Th4 even if swiss manager is opened the task manager will choose on its own to terminate applications including swiss manager.

So I open the flip and again put swiss manager on.This way my ram memory is under control.

I use wifi a lot and yes it eats up the battery supply fast but I am still happy as over all all functions performed gives me results and at least I have had no major application faults or hangs of the phone.

Now I look forward to the new firmware which we all are and hope it will tweak and remove bugs and make this phone more desireable.

It should be out soon, sorry i dont have a definite date, unofficial versions have popped up on ebay. Didn't Jah's solution of reflashing work?

Problems:
No personalised ringtones if Bluetooth is switched on.
Camera switches to video for no reason.
Can't add jpegs to all contacts, shows broken picture symbol even though same picture can be associated with other contacts.

Apart from that LOVE IT!!!

I've got problems with sertain WAP Push messages: When I receive a WAP Push message (not all "types" it seems), the message inbox comes up with the warning "Not found" when I scroll to the received message. I'm not able to delete the message (using Select All -> Delete message), I get the same message "Not found".
If I scroll from bottom to top, i.e. from the oldest messages to the newest, I see the old ones until I've come to the part of the list where the push message is supposed to be.

I called SE Support and they did not know about this problem (as expected...).

But there is a solution, you do not have to reflash/restore. Go to Control Panel - Unit - Storage Wizard (translation from Norwegian, I guess you find it). Here you can go to the part where you can empty your message inbox. That deletes the problem. I'm sertain this is a bug, I've reveiced similar WAP Push messages with my P900 without problems.

Problem receiving SMS messages..

Say incomplete, and access denied when trying to open...

I found a workaround by forwarding the message (FC) when I can read it.

funny thing is a very few of them do come through...
And this is the 2nd P990 I have got, and the fault was on the first one as well..

first one was very unstable, this is much, much better..

@einst

Which network do you use and which FW do you have? I have used O2 and T-mobile on my Generic World P990 and SMS works fine.
