This used to happen long back in k750 and k800 days.. no backup was required then.
True, but that wasn't a Symbian device. All Nokia updates I've done for months have cleared everything - and I always assumed that this was essential to avoid compatibility problems (you can then restore the backup which only puts back the contacts, calendar appointments etc).
Because the data is intact, I am therefore assuming the update is minimal. Yes, it's some 128MB as a ROM download - but most of that data will be unchanged. The ROM will always be the same size as it's not the same as patching.
Over-The-Air (OTA) updates usually maintain the data, but SE hasn't even got this set up for its S60 devices yet!
Call me cynical, but so far the only thing I've noticed is that the scrolling of the 'tabs' on the SE standby screen seems faster - but I'm thinking they might have simply increased the speed of the transition, not heavily optimised the code. Perhaps this is where all the main problems come from anyway? We can't know because if you try and turn it off, the standby screen messes up anyway.

The new firmware did not hang my phone when I switched standby theme to other themes, from a downloaded theme (Blue sheen). But still failed to backup pc suite. But can be backed up to micro SD card, so not much of a big problem here.

Do a hard reset THEN upgrade again, if you don't do that the theme style bug will stay

Tai, it would be my guess your backup issue is to do with your pc not the phone, I would suggest uninstall of pc suite, make sure you have the right version from website and install again, nobody else has reported backup or pc connect issues with the satio so unless you have a faulty device the problems does point to your pc install, good luck and hope you get it sorted

Jmcomms thats like updating Nokia phones no reset is done although they say to do one after update anyway. That happened on a Nokia I recently updated everything was still the same afterwards which is handy

1. GPS receiver don't turn off after using nav. I must turn off cell
2. After updating I have all installed as it was before
3. Still no EQ
4. Still high compressed pictures
5. Still no RDS in radio
6. Still Low flash
7. HelloOx working
8. Menu works and response faster
9. Mess in multimedia still
For me nothing has changed. What is wrong with SE?
No rds or EQ isn't bugs. they are just not featurers in the phone.

I have also updated to R1C037 a few minutes ago. Mine is an unbranded black Satio, bought here in Sweden. As already has been stated by others, there were no problems with the update, but oth, no dramatic changes as far as I can find.
Hopefully, this update handles some of the severe bugs rather than adding features that we are missing.

@Keljaden, you can download the FB app, sign it yourself, and not invalidate the warrenty, by not using HelloOX2
