Yay I finally joined the >500 club!

Lol, just needed to let that out somewhere! Somewhere where I'm not going to get my head bitten off for being happy about it!
It took me long enough huh? Although about 80% of those posts were made within the last 3-4 months. Before that I had maybe around 80 posts that were made about 2 years previously!
Anyways... Back to business...

Wow finally! I've been checking the Vodafone online store daily for a month or more now and they've finally had an SE surge!
See 4 new SE phones here!
So we have the Havana Gold V640i at $399 (Surprised at how cheap this one is!), the Sandy Beige K770i at $599 (Worth the $200 premium over the K800i? I don't think so!), the Havana Bronze W910i at $799 (*whistles* I'll be surprised if this one sells.), aaaand the Velvet Blue K850i at a massive $999 (I honestly expected it to be cheaper, this is daylight robbery!).
Ah well, I'm glad to see them all the same.

Won't be buying them though.
It does make me wonder though... What would one of us New Zealanders in-the-know do if they wanted, say, a K850i?
We can get it on Vodafone for $999 and enjoy Vodafone's customer support and the phone being ready to use with Vodafone's network (video calling works, no need for set-up, etc.), but put up with the Vodafone branding and the empty wallet.
Or we can get it from an importer/trademe/overseas. The K850i is selling for $679 at Expert Infotech, $749 at Parallel Imported (the most trustworthy importer in my opinion), or $770 at Etown. This way has benefits... You save up to $320 and you get no branding. But buying this way means a non-NZ charger with probably a dodgey adapter, limited or no customer support (no peace of mind), and needing to set the phone up to work properly (and maybe sacrificing a few features).
What way would you guys go? I guess if I were keen on these phones, I'd take the Vodafone just so I can sleep easy lol. I don't like the premium I pay though.

Sure am!
With your post below, just get the K850 from the cheapest place possible and spend $40 out of the $$$ you save on a standard SE Charger (Genuine tho).
PS: To buy K850i here is 250Quid or $660ish NZD.
I got the K850 and its MEAN! I use the MBW-100 Bluetooth watch with it too. SE so kicks ass man. I worked for Telecom NZ for 6 years before I came to UK and Nokia dominated NZ the whole time. There was a surge of SE but it never lasted. Things will be changing... you will see...

Is the W960 out there yet?

Yeah I'm not really sure I want the K850i, but it would be the one I get out of the ones Vodafone sells right now. If I was to but an import, I'd probably wait for the W890i. But yeah, that is a good idea about the charger.

And damn, I always wanted one of those watches!
So how is your K850i? Do you find it to be buggy like everyone else seems to? I don't want the K850i unless I can be sure its not buggy. Also those touch keys put me off. There are reports of people's dying on them.
Nah no W960 yet, unfortunately. I don't think we will see it too soon either. I really want to see the W890i.
I shall add you to the NZer list!

New range arrives! WooHoo! Go
The V640i is looking good. Should sell ok to non-SE owners. I can't see any K610/V630/V800 owners upgrading to this. It's mainly V630i + radio + HSDPA + new styling, I think? K770i is widely regarded as being a K800 minus a few Cybershot software features and styling of the buttons is pretty average. It'll be a bargain when price drops to $399 or less. Can W910i back up its premium positioning? I don't think so, not with 2.0Mp and no Wifi or TV out. Looks like a competitor for the overpriced, underfeatured Moto RISR/RAZR/KRZR products. Not a good move for SE to copy Moto ATM

At $999 K850i hits N95 head on and this is not a good idea IMO.

$799 - $849 would have been better. I couldn't buy K850i over the N95 so if I wanted K850i specifically, low price would be important so an importer would be the go... unless I was renewing my On Account plan and could negotiate a decent discount. Still 14 months to go on my plan so T650 here I come.

I completely agree with you. The V640i is definitely not much of an upgrade from the V630/K610/V600/V800. You're right about the features, it also has A200 platform but I don't think many NZers are so into SE phones that they'd take it for that reason! The only reason I won't get a K770i or T650i is because they don't have A200 though lol. But thats because I want the very latest I can get! SE's NZ prices need to come down a lot before they are going to sell, and I know they can do it. Overseas, the prices are close to half the price we get them for.
