Why are you waiting for the X1 then? Buy the Pro, its going to be out on AT&T anytime soon, certian AT&T insiders have mentioned that the X1 might not release on AT&T only T-Mobile but once unlocked you can use it on AT&T.

AT&T (850/1900) and T-Mobile (1700) 3G frequencies don't match (in the U.S.).

WhyBe why does everything have to be spoonfed to you? I spend half the time looking for links for you. Its getting to be a major pain in the arse. dont you know how to use google?

It is a courtesy to everyone in this thread to provide links. It even makes what you're saying a little more credible.
....and, what's a google

So what if they have cameras, stop being stupid and face reality. IF WM7 requires OpenGL1.1 or 2.0 how many every cameras you have on your phone wont get it to work. Cameras are not going to be motion sensor control but gesture sensors, theres a difference. If they have older devices in mind or not is another thing. Maybe older devices will be able to run WM but without any of the fancy animations etc. Like Vista on older cards, no Aero.

Decent answer in bold

WM was never intended for mass market. And I dont need someone who has never owned a WM phone telling me "Yes it is, Yes it is" just because SE have decided to plonk a fancy app on a WM phone and sell it. Thats plain stupidity. WM is a niche solution, anybody who has been enthusiastic about the cellphone industry for sometime can tell you that. One day whyBe wakes up and thinks "Hey! I want a WM phone" then WM suddenly just does'nt become mass market.

I don't know where all this aggression came from...make sure to take your meds!

Thanks for the answers...I guess

Either way, the Touch Pro is certainly coming to AT&T.

Just for the record, Aksd's statement did not require links or lack in any credibility, because what he referred to was common knowledge, at least amongst those with an interest in WM. If that doesn't include you, and you're not interested in making the effort to research the subject, then more fool you. It certainly explains some of your misguided enthusiasm for the humdrum X1.

@Boinng
Wasn't accusing aksd of being incredulous. Just, in general, I think it is more efficient to provide links for us stupid people. You should not assume everyone shares your WM omniscience.

There are tons of smartphones I find to be humdrum...I have yet to post in any of their respective threads

@WhyBe

Most WM enthusiasts who post on this thread will agree that I've been quite patient answering your questions, sometimes answering the same questions over and over again(however inane they are), what irritated me is twice before I have posted about the Mwg WM7, to show you that WM7 is just around the corner. You should'nt be asking me if I'm taking my meds, you should make sure you're not on pot or some similar substance.

The decent answer in bold, is being optimistic, its most probably not reality. You dont see backward compatibility in Symbian or in large upgrades in WM. WM5 to WM6 to WM6.1 is'nt a huge upgrade they all use Windows CE 5(do you need a link for this info as well?)

Dont you think its strange, that most WM users are planning on skipping the X1? Does that makes us all illogical and X1 haters and you the most logical person out there?

Anyway I've had enough of repeating myself on this thread.

Can I just say, this is getting tiresome too. You know why I'm posting in this thread? Because it interests me. It interests me because in the past I've liked SE phones, and this is SE's great white hope for the future, it interests me because the X1 is very closely related to the Tytn II I've been using for the last year, and it interests me because nobody quite knows how good or bad this phone is going to be yet. It might be released tomorrow and turn out to be amazing, but of course it might be released in January and turn out to be nothing more than a buggy, poor copy of the Touch Pro. The truth is none of us can be sure, and that makes things interesting.

But am I here because I'm interested in buying this phone? No. Should I be? Double no. This is a discussion forum, and were here to discuss, not prat about like giddy-eyed fanboys in an Iphone queue. You can do that for the rest of us.

And just for the record - the "SEX1" schtick is getting old too. It was mildly amusing back in February or whenever it was this phone was announced, but it's oh-so-tired now...

Probably the most valuable bit of information for me if this is true, If WM7 is fully opengl es 2.0 compliant then X1 is out the window, no matter hows sweet it looks,
aksd where did you hear this information have you a link,
I just had this hunch that the Xperia was going to be released late and Also the longevity will be even less than I initially thought, I would even say a ridiclous 2 month life-span (cough splutter maybe less) and still theres no firm absolute release date, This device is heading towards doom, (sorry is going to be doomed)
but if you not bothered about upgraded software and into an average spec phone then this will be brillant for you,
I can see SE very dissapointed, They should learn from there previous mistakes, never show case a device with old technologhy AND DELAY IT!!!!
SE is a joke, actually this is very good news for other manufacturers
lol,
MSM7200=WM7 er .........No...bye bye

oh I forgot to say any one with a MSM7200 variant and planning to get an Xperia you making a grave mistake you pay over a 1000 dollars for something cutting edge......its not simply just wait a couple of month you wont be dissapointed thats a promise!!!!

Well ultimately X1 probably won't satisfy the dead zone. But I do think it will be reasonably popular on the outskirts of that market just for it's styling alone. The interface, while fairly gimmicky and not really that innovative, will still appeal to many.

I don't think it will steal the market, but I do think it will have a measurable impact.

I probably won't buy it, though I do like the styling. All things considered, I would probably go the touch pro just for the TV OUT, however if the ergonomics and layout of the X1 feels good when I get a chance to actually sample it, I may choose it over the Touch Pro (price dependent).

Of course if I do get it, I'll probably also get the C905, maintaining my current two handset philosophy for a little longer. The X1 certainly doesn't meet my ultimate all in one, pocketable, handset that I've been dreaming about since I first heard that PocketPC was going to accomodate a mobile phone

I'm still waiting!

@Humble

I remember reading it on a tech blog, I cant remember which. It was mentioned that its a rumour. I searched on google but to no avail. But for sure WM7 should support OpenGL ES1.0/1.1? minimum although it wont be future proof, maybe support for OpenGL 2.0 as well?. I also heard they maybe phasing out GAPI, thats good imo. If I come across the blog once again I will surely post the link for you. I find it hard to believe though that it will be only OpenGL ES 2.0 compliant. If you look at todays OS's using OpenGL such as the iPhone or Android they're all OpenGL 1.0/1.1. So would'nt the hardware be severly limited if its 2.0? Looking at the MwG phones I have a feeling they're Qualcomm MSM based, anyway we should know for sure by December, latest by CES where MS are offically launching WM7 and HTC is announcing the first Snapdragon phone running WM7 .

@aksd & @Boinng & certain others:

Masturbate your egos if you must, but certainly you need to learn common courtesy. The name calling and condescending remarks are totally unnecessary--especially considering that I have only politely asked questions only to be called stupid for asking them. Consider it a compliment that I ask you questions. The fact that you constantly try to define me shows personal insecurity on your part. If someone disagrees or disbelieves what you say, then you have the choice to politely refute their assertion, prove them wrong, or better yet, ignore them. There is no need to insult everyone who challenges your viewpoint. This thread should be: informative, speculative, critical, accurate and enthusiastic about the X1. You're certainly free to express your personal opinions of the X1 here, but all of the anti-X1/pro-BrandX rhetoric, does not seem very constructive to the goal of informing about the X1.

Others posters have already complained about the fighting (which mostly consists of personal attacks). I have tried my best not to attack back (God knows I could ) I am not mad at you, just trying to put things in perspective

Apologies to everyone for interrupting our scheduled program.
