You can pump it up with the EQ . All sliders a few steps up to the point where distortion begins.

Does anyone know if the next FW update will give us some of the features that the Z1 has?

I was looking forward to the same. Atleast bump up the volume to decent levels and hopefully we get X-Reality as well.

Wouldn't count on X-reality.
You really find Z's volume not enough? I'm using it with bundled headphones and keep it at 60% most of the time cause anything louder is too loud. Won't comment on speaker volume cause it can't be changed by much with software update, it simply can't play louder than it was designed to.

Are you using any mods? I'm on the latest firmware and the latest walkman version and the volume level has actually gone down.

I'm usng BTN200Ms and I could do with a bit more volume too. If I'm sat on the train going to work, for instance, I can still hear exterior railway sounds when listening to a tune.

At home, it's absolutely fine.

I am using Clear Audio+ though.

No mods, pure stock firmware without any modifications. Out of curiosity I pumped the volume to the full and I couldn't even put them in my ears due to the loudness. Maybe it's not the loudest, it maybe even worse than most but I can't see how can it be too silent.

@goldenface
maybe it's due to the nature of Bluetooth audio? I was using Bluetooth headphones since the day I bought Z until after last update I tried listening through the headphones and discovered new world
But I have to say that Bluetooth audio can't even compare with standard wired connection, can't say how aptX improves the quality but standard A2DP can't even come close.
