The X1 certainly doesn't meet my ultimate all in one, pocketable, handset that I've been dreaming about since I first heard that PocketPC was going to accomodate a mobile phone

I'm still waiting!

You do not consider the Diamond? When I look photos comparing Touch pro & Diamond, I don't regret at all to not have hardware keyboard considering how Touch Pro looks like a brick. Unless you need more than 4Gb (and TV-out but http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412350 )

Wrong. There's no requirement for this thread to be "enthusiastic" about the X1, or critical for that matter. This is not a fan thread, it's a discussion thread, and any enthusiasm or criticism is drawn out from that discussion, not the other way around.

Stop playing the victim, and stop trying to set rules for the rest of us, just take part in the discussion if you want to.

@aksd
Yes I totally agree, Opengl es 2.0/2.1 will do all direct10 and more
"Khronos today also released a number of extensions to OpenGL 2.1 which enables some of the new features in OpenGL 3.0 to be used on older generations of hardware. These extensions include enhanced VBOs, full framebuffer object functionality, half float vertices, compressed textures, vertex array objects and sRGB framebuffers"
quote from article 16891 from linuxelectron.com,
bear in mind that the playstation ps3 xbox360 and pandora(omap 3430)console use opengl es 2.0 opengl 3.0 will be introduced less than a year from now, but dont worry version 2.1 will have emulated calls to these new functions,
sorry if i go deep, thats where the truth lies

@Humble

Not at all, I can follow you a little bit at least. I basically program Java and bash. And following the Kaiser fiasco I have picked up a little on OpenGL and DirectX. So I get the idea. The PS3 is OpenGL 2.0 compliant correct?

The worrysome thing is in reality I wonder if they'll implement it(Kaiser problem again? ).

Humble I have a question, supposing WM7 implements OpenGL 1.0 in the UI, but if OpenGL 2.0 framework is supported by the OS, can applications use OpenGL 2.0 function calls? Therfore you can run OpenGL2.0 compliant applications(using supported hardware of course)

ANother thing, regarding the MSM7200 chipset, according to specs it has 4 mil triangles per sec, none of the MSM7200 series have this kind of results. I wonder if Android is different. Do you think implementing 2D and 3D acceleration on the MSM7200 series chipset is a big problem regarding coptimization for WM? Because Android seems to be working well on the chipset.

Expected October Release of the X1 on Vodafone UK. Earlier than expected. This is a good thing , it increases the life of the phone:

It bothers me that it's almost the end of August and Sony Ericsson hasn't even announced when or how much the Xperia is going to be. Also, who is going to carry the handset.

Speculations stating that it's going to be a mid september release but why can't they just announce it a month in advance?

So, a week before release? a day before release? I bet some people are thinking the same thing.

@WhyBe

You really are seriously deluded it is you that is condescending never supports any of your absurd idea's about how and why the X1 is going to destroy and be better than anything else ever. Even when it's explained why it won't be you still don't accept it and call us X1 or SE haters.

You constantly call people X1 haters and demand proof of what is generally common knowledge and at the same time seems to not have clue what you are talking about most of the time. Which is why so many of us grown ups have got tired of you throwing your little tantrums and insults. Personally I'm convinced your only 12 or 14 tops by the way you act and living in a fantasy world.

Yes the Playstation xbox360 pandora are Open gl es2.0 compliant
the question you raised secondly is somewhat tricky to answer but to cut a long story short the answer is no,
"OpenGL ES 1.1 is derived from desktop OpenGL 1.5 and emphasizes hardware acceleration of the API, but is fully backwards compatible with OpenGL ES 1.0. OpenGL ES 1.1 provides enhanced functionality, improved image quality and optimizations to increase performance while reducing memory bandwidth usage to save power"
from khronos.org
It is because the working off the internal architectures
supporting the inbuilt functionality, Even if the frameworks does exist within WM7, the supported calls in the framework would be limited by the API ie platform otherwise would have to go through software emulation which would defeat the hardware acceleration, Open gl es 2.1 has the evolutionary changes in the hardware to emulate version 3 calls
to solve problem-------->new platform so the API can address these function calls in supported hardware, unsure whether the PowerVR SGX supports 2.1

Why are you waiting for the X1 then? Buy the Pro, its going to be out on AT&T anytime soon, certian AT&T insiders have mentioned that the X1 might not release on AT&T only T-Mobile but once unlocked you can use it on AT&T.

How do you know that they're releasing the X1 on Tmob in the USA?... I've read on several different sites that it's not coming to Tmob, and after the last white paper release I had lost all hope of it coming to Tmob USA do it's exclusion of the US's AWS bands in the North American version.... Source?.... Thanks!
