While ago XZ2P was $650 on Amazon while XZ3 was $800.
I haven't checked lately to see current price.
XZ1 was same releasing price of XZP.
At least here.
1/1.7" = 43,32 mm2 , 1/2.55" = 24mm2
Huawei is using something about 40mm2.
It is hard to tell because for example 1/1.72" or 1/1.69" would be described as 1/1.7".
I think you can try to calculate this way (It worked for 12MP 1/2.3 and 12MP 1/2.6" ).
Area/megapixels = X
Square root of X = pixel size
24/12 = 2
SR (2) = 1,41
43,32/12 = 3,61
SR (3,61) = 1,9
There is the thing. Bigger pixels in theory are useful for very high ISO.
Unless they plan to use Aube again, it pointless.
Many techs from newer sensors can overcome pixel size for light sensitivity.
Sony Alpha has done it, A7 III 24MP has much strong low light performance than A7S II 12MP.
Older iphones used to have 8MP 1,55 micron (same sensor of xperia z4 tab) and was awful.

I was looking at the pixel pitches of alpha cams and I found a site which had a simple formula. If my calculations are correct 1/1.7" pixel pitch is 2.98 um. That must be the biggest ever in phone history.
I don't think you'd need aube after that and if they can clean the noise like alphas that could be the ultimate low light camera.

Monochrome of XZ2P acts like a RGB of almost 90mm2.
Unless they put a 1/1.2" , no way they can give a clean footage with RGB only.
Without aube, impossible to merge data for video.
Excatly what happens to N9.
Does not make sense if X2 is lower tier than X1, but better cam hardware.
If I had X1, I'd be mad.
Let's suppose the X1 5G was really cancelled.
And that hexa cam is the replacement.
What if it has 48MP 1/1.7" RGB + 12MP 1/1.7" mono?
According to the leak, that phone have two cameras with same FL and f1.2/f2.4.
Since the sensor has DRAM to read data 4x faster, pixels take much more time to get "saturated" of light.
It is better to have high res RGB and mono.
Why cant Sony leave info out like Samsung and Google? 😡😡
Still almost 70 days until IFA ...
People no longer come here to tell us .... 😰😰😰😰

We're almost in August, 38 days to ifa. Right?
Xz2p didn't have bionz x AFAIK. It's rgb stills were comparable to the merged ones. Only more noise. I think aube should be used again but Tony was saying things like you don't need it etc. The hexa cam rumor is too good to be true. I hope they don't waste aube after 1 try but my hopes are not high.

I might be wrong but black technology meant a highly technological process/thing that it's almost magic that it actually exists. It's tech is top secret. Kinda. Might mean sth else idk

Sony came in with some horrific sales figures, doesn't include the Xperia 1 as it came late but it looks bad in the press.

In Japan people buy iphones or japanese brands. Rest has no relevance there.
In Korea is the same. People will buy Samsung, Apple and occasionally LG.
In China the top 5 are all local brands.
Japan, HK amd Taiwan are safe spots.
Then they remain to see what happens in Europe.
I dont know if they sell in all countries there.
Midranges started in last week of FEV.
Part of sales are not there.
The more important is how much 💰💰 per unit is being earned.
More important than total sales.
Even more important if number of flagships sold pass midranges.

I think sony has the highest average selling price among Android manufacturers
Also they should get rid of their mid rangers
They can no longer compete in the category
Makers are releasing more and more models which simply outclass sony entry class and midrangers
Even the Samsung m series is a step in the right direction
