@monkey man: I was refering to the darkest of the dark(Xhosa's) when I made that comment about Afrikaans. The only reason I can speak die taal is because my monther comes from Kimberley thus she speaks it fluently.

@ Kryptik,
What you heard about Afrikaans in shops here is partly correct, but even more so on the tubes.
I've had a wry smile or two when a SA chick was sharing her love memoirs from her personal diary with her other SA friend.
Or when 2 SA guys were perving in Afrikaans about the blonde bombshell sitting opposite them, she got off 4 stops later and politely told them to watch what they say on tubes in Afrikaans...precious.
Interestingly,I don't know what the figure is,but there seems to be far,far more post-matric Afrikaners than English-speaking SA citizens in London, and not just as a result of it being privately (supposedly!)convenient for people to speak or Afrikaans in public here.
What does seriously get my goat here is when some of these 'lighties',in groups, get sloshed and climb on the tubes, and the hooligan juice allows them to loosen their tongues and they begin running the Poms down or start slurring right-wing sentiments in Afrikaans. Why not in English in front of them, yer cowards?!Unfortunately there are those amongst them who feel the Poms owe them for the sins of Pom forefathers in SA,and will happily admit, amongst themselves, about trying to milk the Pom system any way they can.
Idiocy, arrogance, ignorance and short-sightedness in their purest forms.
Oh well,at least most SA people in the UK are hard-working,diligent people, trying to make the most of their (usually) two year stint here..

I've heard the figure of 1.4million mentioned wrt S.Africans in the UK, but am unsure where i came across it. I'd agree, cowardice whilst juiced or sober is unforgivable. Give em hell i say...
@Brix, don't let the amaPondo hear you calling em dark-skinned... Very sensitive subject amongst them.

Saw an ad for the LG
M4410 this evening...it's a clamshell, has EDGE,
expandable memory,mp3 player with controls on the front... In short I'm impressed. Anyone know when this baby will be available?

@ brix,
Plus it has Bluetooth,1.3mp with flash, and 65k colour OLED outer display.

It's certainly not available here, but as I've said before,it seems SA has a much better variety of LG phones than the UK.
Where did you see it advertised?
Now the LG P7200,with more a square look/appearance and 2mp camera, plus the M4410's impressive inventory of features, definitely has me interested...and maybe SA gets this too and the UK not...

@wanksta: Just taking a breather from the dancefloor.
I saw the ad on eTV. My instincts tell me it'll be available on either MTN or Cell C.
Let me get back to that sweatbox they call a club.
