Voda did release it... and delivered on time.
I think its well worth waiting for at least a few more firmware releases though till the fortunate ones who do not own one yet rush out to get it: the phone is simply bad: very very very slow (even with Sman freeing up memeory), full of bugs (at least the firmware Voda are 'allowing' us to have), needs twice the RAM or a much better memeory manager, issues with synchronisation and with multiple SE phones on the same PC, and generally for the past 24 hours, a very frustrating experience...
Thinking of selling mine in fact, unlocked (other than Voda startup screens)

Managed to get hold of an unbranded version of the P990i.. first impressions are that the unit seems to be slightly lower quality from the voda version that I also have..
Updated the firmware flawlessly...had my first crash on it also whilst browsing and listening to mp3s...
sigh...

@all
My free Voda P990 arrived today. Has the same firmware as others. Main point I noticed is that it feesl quicker than my generic P990 and the flip open/close mechanism seems smoother. The plastic for the keys on the keyboard also look different...SE must be refining the manufacturing process...

@ Jah
Yup... i have the generic one aswell now and as you can see from my post above yours... the voda ones are slightly more refined.
I switched the flip from my voda one and put it on the generic one.. so that feels better. Didn't notice much difference with the keyboard tho.
The vodafone jog dial seems to make a nicer click noise aswell... do you agree?

Sounds good guys...
looks like they are improving in more ways than one...
Maybe when they are on general release everywhere and by the time I get one they will be spot on!

I'm happy with the quality of my Vodafone one but must admit I'm looking forward to improved firmware and release of TomTom 6 for UIQ3.
Upto now I think its a good stepped improvement over the P910i from a features perspective but let down by bugs & speed of the UI at the moment.

I wonder if I can somehow fool SEUS into letting me unbrand the vodaphone P990 by sticking in the generic phone first when it detects the CDA information.

I thought I'd read that someone did similar with a P910i. Worth a try I suppose.
