I thought of that too, I installed the update service and the pc suite on a clean machine. Same result. This kulankendi solution is starting to sound swell................

@dogenia
i think you should delete the files inside the folder db first before you try to update your phone again! you might find it here--> \Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db
i experienced it before, the SEUS installed an incomplete FW to my phone... i think it was due to my internet connection reset.

Well, I can arrange to give SE a crash course on various error checking mechanisms. I really have a hard time believing some of the ridiculous things SE is doing. We all know that they don't have beta testers, why pay for it when you have all of us out here willing to pay to become beta testers
But I would really like to know who the software project manager was for the P990 and what kind of corporate decisions were involved...Unfortunately the P990 already has a bad reputation in the general public and I think it will reflect on future SE P series phones too. Too bad really as the P990 hardware is really good.

So this am I took it back to the SE guys and I'm currently updating the trusty P910i. Makes me wonder why I bothered to switch in the first place. Lesson learned here: always skip a generation of phones.

While I dont completely understand, I tried and it does increase RAM on next reboot. You must reboot. But one thing for sure, the Messaging apps is definately causing memory leaks.
Wonder how long SE will continue to maintain firmware updates for this 990i model??? before it get written off.... Any inputs???

BT is another application with memory leak. After connecting/disconnecting a BT headphone, even 2 level 3 reclaims with SMP, 0.4 MB RAM disappears, never to return until reboot

I have just reflashed my P990. Strange thing is that it only took about 20 mins to do so. Is that normal?
Speaking of memory leaking applications. When i open "my shortcuts" i lost 1mb or even a little more of RAM and on reclam i get back only 0.4mb. Is that normal?
After master reset+internal format+reflash+internalformat+master reset i get 15,4mb of free RAM. I saw one here getting 17,4mb. Anyone got more? Why those numbers differ so much?
