it's absolutely true that camera phones will never be as good as dedicated cameras. For the same reasoning a music phone or even an mp3 player will never be as good at reproducing audio as a home hifi.
But on the flipside, many people seem happy enough to listen to music with mp3 players of all kinds. The same can be said of cameras. Once true camera enthusiasts laughed scornfully at ANY digital camera, but now many professionals don't even own a film camera. The same march of technology will put very good quality camera's into phones. Every year we see better and better quality. If anyone disagrees with me, they haven't taken hundreds of photos with a K700 or worse a T610!! No one is arguing that camera phones will ever match professional digital cameras, that's absurd. But todays high end camera phones are way better than yesterdays digital cameras, that's a fact.
My first digital camera was a 300K VGA unit. It had nice colours, and took a better photo than my K700 camera phone. But, my K750 takes better 2MP photos than my old Dolphin 2MP digital camera. So megapixel for megapixel, in the low end of the megapixel range, camera phones are catching up with digital cameras.
Soon, camera phones will have as good cameras as cheap consumer digital cameras. But middle to high end digtal cameras will maintain an edge on camera phones for a long time to come.

if this thread is all about the issue that SE is failing in producing good phones then this is all insanity imo

motorola, SE and Samsung have their own strategies and most of the time Fans like me wanted a Nokia Like strategy where they can see Features they wanted but do not FIT them. in GSMArena for example, votes and Hits for Samsung I600, SE K750, K800, D900 and etc have not reached the designated score and nost of the time i can see scores down from 7-8 while those phones have proven to be VERY RELIABLE and FITTING to most of their targeted consumers. those technology freaks vote for N95 in an "overrating score" in which UNRELIABILITY is the worst issue. sorry for my being rude

but how come those voters could vote for a phone in which it can offer so much features but is not so reliable for it's numerous issues, it's because most of the time those voters are not actually users but only those who wanted to scream and vote down for the phone they hate and vote up 10 out of 10 to their "dreamphone" though they don't even used it and knew it's flaws. btw. it's my opinion so "blasters" are welcome

@rizac,
come on, those votes are not worth a damn. Also, I remember a number of threads here where members were urged to vote on sites like that to push SE-products up the ladder...

I have p900, p910 and p990. I like p900 and p910, but I am disappointed in p990. Recently, I have tried nokia n73 and found n73 is a better phone.

Swedish Steel last longest.......he he
one thing im thinking about is that nations like USA, Germany & Sweden makes products with absolutely best quality. (if i may say so)
i mean stuff like cars, computers, HIFI, HI-Tech and of course cell phones, BUT its one "thing" Germany & USA cant "fix", and thats of course cell phones.
have USA some good cell phone brand ?
(England also makes things with really high quality, maybe not biggest on computers/cell phones, but other things, like their cars, Aston Martins)

USA best quality products? Are you mad? USA buy all there stuff from places like china. They have no phones of there own brands! They buy all there stuff! America make cr*p there cars speak for them selves! (btw, any one know why SE left the AF and macro of the w850?)

Is this ignorance or nationalism?
We don't buy "everything" from China. And much of what comes from China goes into every nations' products.
We do in fact have our own mobile phone company, Motorola. And though I love

I can attest to the better physical (materials, finish) quality of Motorola's phones.
And over the last few years, American automotive reliability trounces Germany's, per given class. (The Japanese, of course, are still on top.)
Back on-topic,

seems to have brief periods of mobile phone brilliance (T616, S710a, K790a) punctuating ages of repetition (T637, K810). And they sometimes half-ass their chances to be revolutionary: for example, they could have gone straight to a W610-like design last year and bypassed the half-step that is the W810 (though I love mine).
And of course, when Nokia brings out the N95, all

can offer is the S500, T650, and P1...
I'm not giving up on

yet, but Nokia - especially their N-series - keep looking better.
