I still think S4 images are better

And I prefer the Note 3 over the S5 especially how it feels in the hand aswell

The camera is pretty irrelevant as long as it has the basics, which the S5, Z2, G2 all do. The (M8) has essentially a terrible camera, in my opinion. The continuing lack of OIS is a shame on them all, well in apart from LG.
BTW, have you noticed how the anti-Samsung army come to this thread, just to slag off anything Samsung ? yet the Z threads are sparse of anything but Sony chatter.
It got me thinking, especially since I read
THIS NEWS yesterday, that for me the smartphone battle has never been about Android vs Android phones, but Android vs Apple. They're the real, dare I say, enemy ? Go back two years ago and I would have had no opinion on any Android OEM since id not owned one before, but two years on the only reason I prefer my S3, which is looking likely to be replaced by another Samsung is because I find them to be the best Android phones.
So, why cant the morons not accept this and not forget the fact we buy these phones for Android ?

Samsungs own digital image stabilisation is quite good but unfortunately can't be used when shooting 4k.
I'm looking forward to when Samsung bring out a phone with a 20mp camera, f2.0 lens, OIS and maybe 5x lossless zoom, I'm not interested in the new K Zoom, it doesn't even have a 1080p screen.

No Samsung's image stabilization is terrible. When turned off I used to get a smoother refresh rate. As for Sony if we even dare to say our opinion on those threads we get attacked. And who the hell said Z1 can be compared to a Nokia 1020 or 1520?? The Z1 takes poor out of focus images. Anyway I am not bashing Samsung as I like some if their models just not the S5.

Speaking of cameras, any new phone I buy has to have what I call a good camera, meaning good for everyday snaps.
I don't think the Z, Z1, HTC One or M8 have that. The Z2 appears to have a decent camera, so I could settle for it - but still keep my N8 always fully charged to ensure I have a proper cameraphone for proper shooting.
The S5 appears to have a good camera. I got my hands on the phone for the first time today. Overall impressions were good, but when you come from a Samsung phone they don't seem much of an upgrade. I think if I were coming from a HTC phone it would be more immediately impressive. Anyway, I was in my local EE store and tried the white and black versions. The black version was a little boring to look at, the white version had a cool perl like shine to the rear soft back which was nice.
Anyway I compared it to the M8 as they were side by side - no comparison. The M8 is nice being all metal, but its screen is dull, boring and the phone is stupidly bigger for no apparent reason. I also found the power button hard to locate and then press just to unlock the phone. I think the M8 is HTC's worst phone in since the Sensation.
@ Bonovox - as for HTC's camera department, its not exactly Nokia's imaging department. I don't think they know what they're talking about. They had a novel idea with the One and M8 cameras, but they didn't implement the technology well, if it even works - which I don't think it does. In 2014 versus 16, 20 & 41 mp cameraphones their 4mp sensors are a joke - imo.

To be honest I see the Galaxy S5 as more of a Galaxy S4S not that much of an upgrade in my view. I hate the larger bezels,i don't like the new back, the front looks too similar to the S4,i don't need a heart rate monitor or fingerprint scanner, the camera isn't that impressive in my eyes. Note 3 is better . I also don't get why Samsung calls their 'new' look UI more flat & less cartoonish or less colourful. It doesn't look all that different at all. If there is one device I regret getting rid of was the Note 3. In it's early days was a little buggy.

But at least it has a better screen and better processor than S4. Here is a review which says battery life is average

I don't see how the cartoonish look of tw is an issue these days. You can use different launchers and change the icon pack- so to me that is a non issue. What I like is the fact that the tw icons on GS5 are slightly larger-good move IMO
Bit of the shame with the battery- I was spoilt with great battery on a Note 3 so this is a drawback for me. In saying that if you are not a heavy user the battery life should not b an issue
