That's a good question Whizkidd, all i can say to that is - There is no need for voilence but one of the two feels they are correct and vice versa. Islam and the Quran does not promote violence if you read it fully but some people do not want to read the scriptures they just want to follow traditions which does not help.

Actually, the criterion for one to know if he truly relates to that single straight path is the same criterion that determines what makes one a true Muslim, what makes one a real follower of Muhammad (saw). I can say that this can be done through simple analysis. If a teacher instructs his students to do a home work in a certain way, using a certain textbook, what makes one an obedient student is to follow his teacher’s instructions to letter, for that will earn him success in the exam. But if the student deviates, this will certainly create obstacles in his way to success.

So, when Allah Almighty says in the Quran, Chapter 5 Verse 3:

"This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion"

… and orders us in the Qur’an that we should follow the instructions of the Prophet (pbuh), all this means that the basis of guidance for Muslims is to follow those two noble sources, the Qur’an and sunnah, and avoid all that contradicts them.

Some say there are 72 different sects in Islam, which maybe possible but the fact of the matter is they all believe in One God and the Last Prophet (saw).

The Holy Quran states in Chapter 2 Verse 285:

"The Messenger believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers; they all believe in (God) Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers; We make no difference between any of His messengers; and they say: We hear and obey, our Lord! Thy forgiveness (do we crave), and to Thee is the eventual course."

So what’s the connection between Prophet Muhammad and Allah (God)?
I think I remember hearing that Muhammad was a messenger for Allah, if so isn’t that kind of similar to the relationship between Jesus and God (Allah)? Say if Jesus wasn’t actually God’s son (which I believe he wasn’t, but do believe there was a great guy called Jesus back then).

Yep, Muhammed (saw) is the messenger of Almighty God just as Jesus (may peace be upon him) was. We Muslims believe that Muhammed (saw) is the final messenger and that Jesus (may peace be upon him)was not crucified.

So considering the two holy books are similar in many ways, and even the “characters” do you not think that it’s possible it’s the same book which we get the religions from?

I mean I think that long, long ago there was one script/book that was handed down to generation after generation but somehow was told different, a little added for effect, a little taken away, Chinese whispers through the ages kind of. And split in two, two main religions and that’s were we get Muslims and Christians from.

So were all praying to the same god, so why cant the two get along???
I'm gonna start my own religion called "Cuslims" or "Muristions"

When ever the Holy Prophet Mohammed's name is mentioned the words (sallalua alaye walleye wassalam) (SAW) which in short means PEACE BE UPON HIM have to be mentioned as a mark of respect.
