I have a O2 branded K700i and i can't use the on-line update service. Can somenone mail me the latest firmware and some instructions so I can upgrade the firmware myself ? Thanks !

I came to know about the deletion while in address book search. It is happenning to me also.
Well, I have some observations with FW- R2AA003:
1. Put on the radio, minimize it and go to Media Player(just press the joy stick upwards). Radio suddenly vanishes and even if u come out of media player, radio doesnt start playing. But u can listen to the same mp3 from File Manager without this problem and radio resumes after playing that particular tune.
2. Radio Quality is good, but not so consistant. If u move around with the mobile, noise starts with the broadcast. I have listened to some nokia radio in the same place where i used sony, that was little good.
3. No option to record directly from Radio. But recording a conversation is available!!!
4. Search for channels is not so good. Here, all sterio players catch few channels automatically, but this mobile didnt even pick up a single channel.
5. With radio on, go to Camera mode, noise starts with radio. Come out of camera and quality will be good.
6. With PowerSave mode, when the status is standby, if u press volume keys, display becomes active and digital clock is displayed. But, keep doing this- when it goes to standby, press vol key up or down. u will observe the clock moves to left or right depending on the vol key pressed.
7. There should have been Zoom facility to view pictures. If i transfer a file from 500i to 700i, it looks smaller in 700i as the resolution is higher. But it should have been possible to zoom it to fit the screen.
8. Press the # button for more than 2 secs, it will mute the tune. Same thing happens if u press "C" button for more than 2 secs.

hey guys,i jus got a brand new k700i for myself from the gulf.....but i stay in india and wont be returning back there

jus went through the whole k700i thread and i have quite a few quetions ,hope ppl can answer em by replying here or by sending me a pm

well i noticed quite a few bugs as mentioned here primarily the 1 seond delay in answering calls and also slow transfer speeds while transferring to the pc,a 1.5 mb file takes about 10 mins to transfer from PC to PHONE using my new DSS-20 sync station using FMA l8est version
also the sound while taking pictures is quite irritating and is there a wy to disable it, i noticed that the latest sw version is R2AE... is there a way to upgrade to that without taking it to the service centre as i think there most likely to charge me for it coz i bought my fone from guly(original bill + warranty) since it is not brought from india
i tried the SE website but it says that ur operator doesent support it,i dont understand why it says so as i purchased the fone from an authorised SE seller in gulf and its not branded 2 any operator.

i wudve tried the da vinci site but u need 2 pay em 2 get an account which i dont wanna do,coz i dont have a CC.is there some other free software that does the job/also other ways of acquiring the files?

other than so im pretty happy with my fone jus wish i cud get on2 the l8est version and shut thet shuttersound....any help would be gladly appreciated,this is my first SE n im quite a n00b when it comes 2 SE so plz excuse me if i dont understand anythin at the first shot,i was previously on a nokia 3310.

I think he means when you do a search if you move the joystick up or down to select a different contact the search is erased and you must type the letters again.

This looks to be by design (i.e. not a bug)

K 700i Firmware R2Y005 /from 25.10.2004./

Advanced search function in the phone book:
Just type several characters and wanted name appears, no need for pressin C button or any other button.

In 2 month of use I found only few bugs:

1. One second delay in answering calls.

2. Video and picture dims after 15 secs, while animated gif stays always bright. (That makes me mad, because "frosty" old Firmware R2A041 didn't have it)

3. In speed dial some contact disappears, so yu can't dial it ("No speed dial number in this position") and after few seconds it's back!!
- but this bug occures very rare.

I have a K700i phone bought it from O2 but not branded the startup screen is showing the sony erisscon logo animated. I was able couple of months ago to upgrade my phone into the R2L001. However I went to SE online upgrade I plugged my phone and follow the on-screen instructions and the upgrade successfully completed but I pressed the combination of keys to view the hidden menu so I can the firmware version but it didn't upgrade to something else really I still have the R2L001. I don't think i do something wrong, whats happening? thanks a lot
