@MNX

Only the 4K Bravia comes with the XBR moniker now. No 1080p XBR anymore

@randomuser That's fine, it's only about $3.5k, cheaper than my XBR when I bought it. Also, time to adopt some 4k tech!

My W8 has no triluminous display..... maybe the new W8 ? Anyway, Bravia with Triluminous display is expensive. But, even without triluminous display, the W8 has beautiful colour. Recently I watched Chennai express (maybe those from India know this movie) and the colour is so beautiful. I don't know, is it because of the movie or the bravia.

sorry for off topic.

the new Sony x900 4K triluminos tv? This is why we also need 4K video recording in Z1. Future proofing!

from what i understand, 4K recording is supported by the S800, right? or is it just 4k playback? i'm not sure. if its the former, it seems like it's just a software enablement issue which might come with future updates. keep your fingers crossed.

wasn't there a video of the Z1 playing 4K video with the note 3 (which pathetically lagged in comparison)?

Yes it is. But for unknown reason Sony don't want Z1 to have 4K recording. After seeing the quality of 4K video taken with Note 3, I've changed my mind. 4K video recording is awesome and it's a must. The 1080p looks average on 1080p screen, but the 4K looks just fantastic on 1080p screen.

Sample 4K video here(better download on PC as it lags terribly on YouTube...): http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_3-review-996p9.php

4K video can't truly be appreciated without a 4K resolution display. my stupid 4 year old macbook doesn't have sufficient resolution for it

i was thinking, perhaps the reason why sony hasn't included 4K recording in the Z1 is because of heat dissipation issues? the phone does get hot with constant camera use. maybe doing 4K would cause too much heat for the build of the Z1 so Sony chose to leave it out rather than deal with overheating complaints?

just a theory.. for the record, i personally have not experienced any overheating errors or resets/restarts.
