I'm old school, I don't want my phone to replace my camera because it'll become expensive, ugly and battery life will suffer. It's exactly the problem we have today with 3/4 lenses on the back and less than a day on charge. Nonsense. Phone should take good images in auto mode, fast point and snap. Video needs to be smooth. Phone needs to last 2 days, 1 day shouldn't be considered the normal. This is exactly why I always go for the Compact because it's decent all round with very good battery. Xperia 1 is excellent but I can't be worried about battery running out so that's off my list.

Not all sensors are 4:3, imx400 is supposed to be round. I know the inch doesn't always match up and I've already calculated 0.8um 108mp as if it's 4:3. It's not that nobody can do it, Huawei is putting 1/1.55"(though the recent images look like it's square). I just don't see Sony doing it. But you never know.
Times are getting tough for old schoolers like you badassmam. They trust fast charging for battery instead of making it big and they are multiplying things that eat the battery. 4k resolution is also one of those things imo. Even quad HD, and more and more display area. But it's all happening, no way to run since even midrange is headed that way.

Having used and owned the Xperia 1 for 1½ month now, I would say that battery life is nothing to worry about. In my opinion better than previous Sony phones I have owned (XZ3 Compact, X Compact). I think this is mainly due to very low background battery consumption. Overall I get around 6-7 hours SOT and normally I have 60-70% in the evening after a normal day of usage with a good amount of browsing, photo shooting etc. Overall the Xperia 1 is excellent (screen, camera, UI, design, battery) and much easier to use single-handed than I had feared. HD video is fantastic - extremely smooth and with great sound recording. Camera app could be faster and you need to give the camera 1-2 seconds to analyze the scene before you shoot - hopefully they optimize in later firmware. Some reports problem with the FPS, but after new firmware and adding by thumb 2-3 times it is working fine.

Rectangle lenses were tested but could not provide same quality.
Xiaomi admits that Mix4 will have Isocell 108MP.

The xperia 2 sender seems to short of front facing camera. But rendering looks nice!

That render is just a placeholder. The onleaks version should be closer to reality. Matte finish is also possible. The new earbuds have copper. Maybe X2 will have it too. There were rumors about 2 not having purple.
Did Xiaomi really confirm 108mp? Well, now we can forget it altogether. BTW with 1/1.7*16 the sensor would be way smaller than I originally calculated. About 1.9um pixels only.

Yes ... they said redmi note 8 is getting 64MP. Ice Universe posted 108MP isocell photo with comment Mix4 ..
xiaomi also posted something "misterious" about cam.
I asked to bring back white. Done
I asked for eye AF. Done
I asked for copper ...
I asked for Acoustic Surface ...
I asked for NFC charging .....
Now I will ask for a 70MP ( non-QB sensor), to stop following Supersaf on twitter, to stop sending review unit to Verge etc..

Sony is starting to fix the poor marketing issue.

" Sony partnered with San Francisco’s Academy of Arts University for the Sony Xperia Summer Film Fest. Using the Cinema Pro app and Creator mode on the Sony Xperia 1, students had to shoot a short film (under 5 minutes) based on the words “kando”, “joy” or “wonder”.
The top 25 entries were selected and now it’s up to you to vote for the winner – head over to XperiaFilmFest to watch the films and vote for your favorite. The winner will receive $10,000 to help fund their future projects.
As you can probably guess, all the films were shot in 21:9, matching the aspect ratio of the Xperia 1’s screen. Most creators shot in 24fps (a feature of the Cinema Pro app) for an even more cinematic feel.
The Sony Xperia Summer Film Fest will take place in a week on August 14 where the 25 films will be screened for attendees and the winner will be announced."

Haha the last part I've already said before. They had to do something like this, good for them.
Idk if it was market dependent I saw an m4 aqua in gray /silver back when they were available. And before they got out of the market.

sony semiconducter can loose their market share for chinese brands if they coulndt counter new 108 and 64 mp sensors from samsung.

All this because they are cheaper. Of course performance is not same of an Exmor.
Difference must be less than 10%.
But cheaper price is enough for many to make this choice.
Pocketnow says this 108MP was made by Sammy according Xiaomi's desire.
Might be exclusive.
