@wanqsta: Thanks for that one. I'm bloody envious of the monkey man... Like him I also love Apple computers but sadly I can't afford them. Maybe I can but then again I'm not quite a fan of the eMac. This message was posted from a K700i

@Falcon and 786KBR: If you guys want to pay 3600 for an SE which will drop in price like a lead baloon in five months time go ahead...be the first on the block with the phone.

Or Falcon why don't you just get the phone on the R135 Weekender contract, that's if they're offering it. Paying R3600 for the W800 is ridiculous considering that you can get a 20G iPod from Makro for R2000 if playing music was the point.

Maybe the wanqsta can chip in here on what the W800i cost sim-free in the UK...defintely can't be R3600.

@BRIX!

How much did you pay for your K700i?

Thats a good price for a phone thats just released, for it to drop to R2500... that will happen maybe in July 06!

@786KBR: Here's the lowdown.

I bought my precious(even though she's been problematic of late) for the "good" price for R2200 in late February.

Here's some more interesting bits, the K700i retailed for about R4000 when it was locally released in September 2004.

Using that analogy I can confindently say that the W800's price will dramatically drop after Christmas because cellphone networks/makers are geared up for the Christmas rush as one of the biggest contributors to their annual sales.

This time of year is also the time when churn is at it's highest in the PAYG segment...that's why the networks are trying to beat each other at cutting call tariffs.

In fact more cellphones get bought at this time of year(Christmas) then at any other time during the year, and they're not going to be selling the W800 cheap or any gadget for that matter.

Well, the branded K750i is going for R3k at Edgars, which really aint bad considering it's an expensive store. Personally i'd wait before getting the w800i, the cost is bound to drop. @Mario, which anti-virus are you running? I've just downloaded f-secure, which operates in real-time, updates itself automatically...
