Well I for one am not in the least bit surprised at this latest "delayed launch" news just look at my previous posts on the subject. As most of us who have been Sony Ericsson customers for some time (I have owned all the P series since launch and at least one example of most of the other high end devices they produce)
Sony Ericsson have a documented history of making a big noise announcing sexy high end phones only to deliver them in a shocking half finished state (Remember the P990 SW?) to their customers AFTER the competition has already something of a much higher specification and build quality in the marketplace
In short Sony Ericsson seems hell bent on building themselves a reputation for late delivery of shoddy incomplete products and That, is the economics of the mad house.
So it really is no surprise that
have suffered such monumental losses and even less surprising that some UK networks are not interested in offering the P1.
In the organisation I work for, some senior heads would have rolled long ago.
I would really like to try out the X1 simply to see if it has a better future than the Symbian platform, but how long should i wait? Will it be complete when I spend my money? will I just be signing up to yet another course of time consuming "updates and bug fixes? are these things not supposed to work right out of the box or am I missing something? And in any case are these really the sort of questions I should have to ask before committing my cash? in my opinion NO.
At the moment the HTC Touch Diamond and Pro devices look a better WM device bet, ready to go, complete, seemingly bug free and and with a great modern, clean looking interface
Senior people in the industry know that
is having problems converting the X1 to make it work the
way! (God Help us as customers is all I can say!!)
I cannot give names as liable laws in the UK are pretty horrible, but please don't flame me I assure you that is a fact.

Consider my reasoning for this so-called "engadget problem" (if that's what you are asking me about) giving SE benefit of the doubt. I know no technical details of the problem. Just find it odd, that all of a sudden, a few weeks before release, that X1's are suddenly self-destructing
I know "news" outlets have to sometimes create sensationalized controversy over nothing to maintain or increase their audience. However, if there actually IS a X1/WM problem, certainly a problem of this nature and magnitude would have been detected alot sooner than a few weeks before release.
BengalBoy hasn't reported any such problems with his X1 (it's been his main phone for awhile), and
this guy doesn't seem to have any problems either.
My big question is how much customization to WM6.1 has SE done ? ...that would cause such a problem. Or is SE just waiting for WM7 since the X1 has 256MB ?
@WhyBe 'A few weeks before release date' ??? Where exactly do you read X1 is going on sale in 'a few weeks' ? Is fine if you want to fool yourself, but don't fool others. I very much doubt we will see this phone in mid sept. (few weeks). Early november is a more credible date and that is 'a few' more weeks than you state
