@jmcconell, place pre-orders from a number of shops and cancel the orders when you get your first P990 (except pixmania as they charge your credit card before availability!). Expansys will get a steady stream of stock so you'll get yours if not in the first stock then perhaps in the subsequent deliveries. The price at phones2udirect look good but they seem like a funny outfit to deal with.

Well im absolutely disgusted now, i get a call from expansys saying that the phone will be with me on monday and now i look and see that it another freaking 8 days before they get any stock in

What an utter farce this whole god damn thing has become!!!!, SE lie about release dates at every opportunity and Expansys are not much better....

Oh well im waiting till next monday and if i dont have the phone in my hands then i will cancel my order with expansys and forever wash my hands of SE, ive never been so angry off over a phone and its release date
To be honest i dont think this phone is going to be worth it, by the time it gets out on the market it will be severely out of date.

Damn you SE to hell

/me takes a deep breath

HTC TyTn is listed as available in 4 days so for me, if that comes first, that will probably be the decider...

Having got rid of my k-jam I'm kinda missing the windows mobile device and the M600 has given me the insight into the new UIQ3

lets see which really comes first...

Masseur, i know it s a bit off topic, but i m salso pondering the p990i or the tytn and i already have a m600i. What do you think of WM5 compared to UIQ3 at least in the m600i?I'm looking for a professional device for a professional use and i must admit that so far i like UIQ3 for a personnal use but i really think that all the eye candy of the OS is here to make up for the fact that it s a sub par professional tool...I really hope i m wrong but i d like your input on the matter since you ve been using WM5 devices while i never had the opprtuniy to try them out

Thats what ive been told by expansys by a fella called Keith, said that an upgrade would be available within a few weeks for the push capability.

I dont know if this is going to affect the all the first batches of the p990i or just the ones expansys are getting.

@corentin, I've really enjoyed my time with the m600 and am much happier with it than I have been with any P series before it.

checking mail, browsing, calling, etc all seem a breeze on the M600 but I feel that UIQ3 is cmoing closer to WM5 but is still behind in terms of single handed use. The WM5 softkeys make one handed use so easy and now the TyTN has a jog dial too...!

The TyTN is expected to be around £100 cheaper than the P990 which may be a factor for some, and will arrive with a much more mature and stable operating system.

As the two devices compare very well in most aspects of their functionality it may well be a simple choice of personal manufacturer preference but windows mobile 5 has been around for a year or so and hence there is plenty of software available, included versions upgraded specifically for WM5 from WM2003SE. Its true that some developers have readied there UIQ3 versions but it will not be until some time after the general availability of the M600 and P990 that most of our favourite apps will start to become available as an upgrade.

WM5 also comes with the standard "pocket" set off apps... word, excel, PDF, PPT etc and IMHO these do a better job that the quickoffice.

MiniSD is currently available in 2gb for around the same price as 1gb M2

as a PC user, the integration between the WM5 and windows platforms also makes them more usable, although I do admit that SE have done alot in their latest versions of the PC suites to improve on this

with the P990 delays I once again find myself undecided and it may simply be a case of which comes available first...
