@masseur

couple of points on WM5 compared to Symbian platforms:

- the P990 uses Duo Pro, which is not as expensive as M2s
- Docs to Go for UIQ3 IMHO is better then Pocket Word & Excel
- Blackberry not available for WM5 (or other push systems)

Here in Sweden it is the other way around, the TyTN is around £100 more expensive than the P990.

@Masseur- I'm sure your post echoes what many of us are thinking.

The one single thing right now keeping my from instantly going for the TyTN is simply SE brand loyalty.
To be honest though I am rapidly thinking the TyTN is the way to go - especially with the P990i having been so delayed its replacement will probably arrive sooner than expected (and maybe with Symbian 9.3 and its better memory management too).
Particularly as a techie I love the ability to play under the hood with WM5, and it seems to be a mature and stable OS with vastly more useful software readily available (plus the impending UK launch of the Slingbox Mobile client too which would be a big plus for me as a Slingbox user). I also think the enforced and rather botched Symbian Signing for just about any useful application will kill one of the best things going for UIQ - the amount of freeware and software available from small developers. Yes I know freeware signing is free, its taking over three weeks plus right now - and would take the same again for each new version with a bug fix.

What I may end up is going for the TyTN now and skip this generation of P-series and wait for the next.
Like Masseur I can see the potential in UIQ3 with my M600i, I'm just not sure (just like the original P800) that it is quite ready for the prime time.

@SL33PYH34D

Much the same frame of mind as me now, just watched a video review of the TyTN here and must say i was impressed, i can live without the only thing missing from the TyTn than the 990 (that im bothered about) which is FM Radio. To me it seems the SDmicro cards are cheaper and im much more confident in the WM5 environment. Also being significantly cheaper is helping my decision.

I think there is a certain psychology here in forums like Esato too in that we're all caught up in the P990 "craze" and maybe some here like to be "part of the group" and so will choose the P990 regardless of anything else in order to continue to be part of that group
just call me Freud!

fortunately I'm not scared to be different

Er...did this when I went for the HTC Universal and now I have a very expensive door stop. If people are not certain then it is also an option to wait until there are quality reviews/comparisons available. Also hopefully people will look at what they want PDA-Phone or Phone-PDA. I was unhappy with the Universal for many reasons but primarily becuase it was a poor phone (poor battery life, poor BT, poor call quality, etc).

I echo your thoughts Jah, i had the o2 exec and yes it was a lovely device but it was a pda then phone whereas the p990i to me is more phone than a pda. Not only that the o2 exec and simialr models are so damn big especially when in the pocket. Great devices as a pda but as a phone, sorry they truly do suck on that part.

By the way does the Tyn Tyn support bluetooth audio streaming to a bluetooth headset like the SE HBH_DS970??...

@JAH, ...and I didn't disagree with you regarding the universal (JasJar) as I had both at the same time and compared it with the wizard (k-jam) and chose the k-jam by a long way and for some of the reasons you mention

The TyTN is simply an extension of the wizard with 3G capabilities and a few improvements (such as windows and ok key in keybard closed mode) that make it so much better. so for me it is already a proven product
