Dude, are you referring to the little black hole next to the 3 LED's ?? Thats not a light sensor its a MIC! The camera lens detects if there's light or not.

No. That's the light sensor.

No. That's the light sensor.
There's an easy way to find out;
1. Cover your imaginary light sensor and take a photo of your monitor or some place where theres light.
2. Now cover your lens and do the same.
Or goto page 157 and you'll see that its not even on the ribbon.

Why are my photos taken with flash dark?
Make sure you handle the camera according to the camera leaflet you received when you bought your phone. If you hold the phone so that your fingers or only parts of your fingers is in the way and reflects light from the flash directly into the [u]
flash light sensor located just below the flash window[/u], the Xenon (Xe)flash will be stopped to early and the picture will get under-exposed (too dark).

i used tooth pick to get loads of dust out cos it was overexposing, its a small hole and the light sensor is down the hole and it was blocked.
Also under the camera lens cover there is dust in there, shudnt this be sealed.
Well one can do what i did- i simply removed the glas-lens cover! Off course you probably void your warranty but i'm sure it can be put back again if you are careful with the tape that holds in in place. Now i feel calm knowing tha i don't have to think about dust or smudges. I think the glas is only there for extra protection for the actuall lens cover. But if you are careful it's okay. I also use the krusell classic case (becaouse i would go nuts from all the smudges all over the phone anyway) and so my kamera is very well protected.

Its a light sensor, why wud a mic be on the back in the camera area. Theres already a mic that is in the bottom of the phone and it has a little hole its under where the battery compartment is under the * button.

When i cover the little black hole and take a picture the flash doesnt go off, if i cover the camera lens the flash goes off.
Now im confused? Whats this all about covering the light sensor and cleaning it out with a toothpick if when you cover it up it doenst do anything.
Im assuming its the little black hole?

THe one at the front when you put ur finger over it the display dims down.? SO thats some sort of light sensor, the other one i thought was a light sensor also?
So what are we cleaning out with a tootpick then?
