I am more than capable of understanding the difference between spec and real life performance, and I don't judge things based on a white paper.
Anyone who looks at a good VGA recording will prefer it to a good QVGA simply because it's bigger and more pleasant to watch.
Only tech heads care about encoding and it's resulted performance to the last detail. The rest of the world just want a bigger picture!
And why should the average user care if an
phone can support files after conversion? The whole purpose of having a bigger memory and multiple format support is so you don't have to mess around converting everything.

I wasn't insulting YOUR intelligence or anyone's for that matter. I was referring to the many people who equate resolution with quality and I'm sorry but my opinion, that I am entitled to, and is supported by facts, is that quality goes well beyond SIZE. I'm sorry if I inferred that you were one of these people, that was not my intention. I was just venting because I have seen quite few people in this and similiar threads getting orgasmic about VGA video without any regard to it's quality.
Maybe they want a bigger picture at the expense of quality, personally I would like BOTH size and quality and I haven't seen both in any phone on the market. To me the N95 vga video is no more usable than the W910 qvga because it is still crappy and still nowhere near even a cheap handycam. This is all I'm talking about. It may be bigger but if the quality is still poor then there is no more incentive to use the video than on a qvga device.

Man I freakin` agree with you!! The key word in your statement is "good" which N95 vga is NOT. Yes it's good compared to 3gp quality but for MP4 it's pretty lacklustre.
btw, I wasn't trying to dump on anyone else's preferences, I was just stating why I personally don't have an issue with the video shortfalls of the C905. Am I not entitled to have an opinion?
Regarding encoding, I actually do agree with you, but for a feature phone C905 is extremely advanced (compared to other non-smartphones), and encoding is just one of those facts of life for a feature phone.
If you want a smartphone I don't have a problem with that, but why not X1 or some other WM phone or even a Nokia or Samsung s60? I'm not stopping you, I'm just saying that the expectation (and price) for a smartphone is greater than that of a feature phone. But if one is prepared to encode video FOR the device, then the onscreen performance is awesome and nothing to be complained about. So for a cheaper simpler device (with less frequent crashing), the C905 has certain advantages, but also disadvantages.
PS you don't have to be a tech head to see the poor detail resolution on N95 VGA video

What about the N95? I'm comparing between C905, the i8510, Renoir and Pixon. The Samsungs and LG have excellent VGA and WVGA (D1?) quality.
So for a cheaper simpler device (with less frequent crashing), the C905 has certain advantages, but also disadvantages.
But in the UK, all these devices will be on contract at very similar prices, hence, my indecision.

C905 is not a mediaphone and we can bear with it, right?
does not have a specific all-rounder because they know it would be too expensive for them to develop one right now. But if the 12.1MP Kokura rumour is true then it could be
's attempt at Media King, although it may not come until next year, or not come at all. Personally I think of C905 as a camphone with nice extras and nothing else, which is exactly why I (we) like it.

Remember the disscussion about average people thinking more Mega pixels count? Well the C905 is advertised as 8.1 megapixel and AFAIK the innov8 is advertised as 8megapixel.
