What facts can they comment or check on other than the facts of the hardware and software in their hands? Blaming any problems on "pre-production firmware" is only meaningful if those problems have been sorted in the production firmware - and if they have been, why didn't they supply that model to the one of the world's biggest tech sites for review?
If Sony Ericsson are sending out dodgy review units and blaming any issues on pre-production firmware, it just makes me very suspicious of the 90% ratings some of the smaller reviewers are coming out with. It's very easy to give something a good review if you're told to ignore every negative point.

Sorry but I have to take you to task here I think my statement " it is a problem with the technology its self" proves I fully understand the issues!
No, I'm sorry, but that statement just proves you don't know where the issue lies! There's nothing wrong with "the technology itself", only certain implementations of it. As I said before, yes by design these screens are less precise than resistive screens, but as long as they're combined with the right software support (see iPhone) the technology works perfectly as a finger-touch interface - no problem.
This was not a statement made on the basis of a whim! I have thoroughly checked this out on four different Android devices G1 G2 Nexus and I forgot to mention the T-Mobile Pulse as I thought it might just be a serious individual handset issue. I now know it is a problem common to ALL the android handsets I tried out the fact they all had capacitive screens is an additional commonality.
The fact remains these devices will give continue to give errors until the underlying technology issues be it physical or virtual are resolved.
The point is, you're making broad statements about problems with capacitive screen technology, but the problems you've experienced are very clearly related to ANDROID, and its implementation of gestures, keyboard etc - to paint that as an issue with capacitive screens is like saying that Toyota cars prove there's a problem with all petrol technology - it just doesn't compute.

Does anyone have any ETA days for when Vodafone are going to start selling the handset?

Not entirely sure when it'll be available direct from Vodafone, but spoke to mobiles.co.uk and they say it'll be in early next week. Got some good deals on their website. Just ordered it on 12 month contract, £79.99 £40p/m with 300 mins, internet and unlimited text. Beats lot's of the 18 month deals and can upgrade sooner!

That's actually a real good deal you got there - £560 all in.

Absolutely, my thoughts exactly. Looked at the other deals and felt that was the one to go for!

Don't shoot the messenger they test what they are given! Its a bit like the old computing adage "Rubbish in Rubbish out" frankly given their precarious position in the Smart / Super phone sector I am stunned that Sony Ericsson are still making such appalling PR blunders as this.
They are in severe danger of losing what small features advantage the X10 has over its nearest rivals thanks to an over extended roll out of the product, one can only guess at what caused this but if they continue in this manner it can only end up in one place.

This is an X10 thread and the X10 is an? ANDROID Handset and I clearly pointed out
"The fact remains these devices will give continue to give errors until the underlying technology issues be it physical or virtual are resolved."
But as you seem hell bent on not getting my point, you crack on mate
