Question for Badassmam:

Will SE release any high-end clamshell phones in the near future, do you know of any plans? A clamshell with a screen larger than 2'4 inches and WIFI would do just fine.

I'm a big fan of SE's keitais in Japan, but for some reason they never release a worthy European version, or a real "smartphone" in clamshell format, if you know what I mean.

I for one am also missing the clamshell/Flip designed high end phones already, sliders and full touchscreen candybars are flooding the market nowadays and i hated it because almost every company fails to innovate with something really fresh on the design format. Clamshell phones can have more styles like the one found in japanese phones (cycloid and etc) i missed the days of the E70/6820 and N93/6260 styles, yet i even missed the flip keypad/keyboard format on SE P-series.

Well said razec, I could not agree more.
Let's hope SE realizes the potential in the clamshell format for the EU and US soon. What I like the most is that you have room for a big screen, and a big keypad. And since I prefer to type with one hand while I'm "on the go" the numerical keypads are perfect for me. The trend for high-end smartphones seems to be an "iPhone" with slide out qwerty keypad. Which makes me worried that they are just going to skip the clamshell/keitai form factor for advanced/high-end phones in the western markets all together. That's pretty much my nightmare scenario, walking into a phone shop and all the high-end phones (from EVERY darn manufactorer) that have all the features I want, are flat touchscreen phones, with either no keypads or just slide out qwerty.

*sigh* if we could only have the option of a clamshell Idou...

Angello are you trying to tell us that it is possible the W707 is going to actually go into production or something?I dunno anyway..
Did anyone see that tectonic gray coloring for the F305? I kind of like it the way it looks so simple yet epic.

I'm withAK. I'd like to see a greater variety of form-factors. SE should have held onto the flip design - it adds a proper keypad to a large TS.

Does anyone know if we will be seeing A3 sometime this year - does it even exist? Or will we just see further refinements of A2.

Agreed Razec. Just a quick correction, Sony Ericsson doesn't use Cycloid flips - that's only for Sharp (and you can say Fujitsu though it works a little bit differently). They just use a normal twist screen and a 2-Way Style flips.
