@Mamba: I guess you'll understand what Brix & Aya are trying to say if you substituted the phrase 'Operating system' with 'User interface'.

@brix25: My smartphones( Toshiba 2032 and Imate Jam) run on Windows OS for Pocket pc. They are both faster than the K700(even after I updated the K700 firmware). As for virus vulnerability I have Air Scanner antivirus app installed on both. For a smartphone newbie I must humbly confess that I'm utilizing close to 80% of the available features...thanks to the enormous volume of pocket pc freeware apps on the net. No regrets my brother just

I didnt know detailed technicality was reqd. I think mamba got my drift. By OS, i meant phones that allow user installations of 3rd party apps to enhance the functionality of the phone, aside from the regular java midlets.
My younger bro just got a Treo 650 and he's told everyone that cares to listen that the Palm OS that powers his palm is better that any symbian or microsoft based product.
Anyone agree with him?

Substituting "OS" with "UI" still does not correct the error there. Every phone too has a UI, just as every phone has an OS
@artwales: We catch your drift (at least I do), but that does not remove the need to correct the misinformation in your statement. Its best to say it correctly, because every term has a specific meaning. Otherwise communication would become impossible.
Aboutthe Treo and Palm OS, fans of each smartphone OS brag about theirs being the best. There are very few objective evaluations of these things. So no point getting into an argument with him or anybody else over which OS is best.
Take my mom, who does nothing else with her phone but voice calls; she will claim that the 3310 OS and UI are the best. Why? Simplicity. She cannot stand complexity. And to me, that must be a joke. See what I mean? what's "best" with one person may not be with another

@mario: Interesting. I am not sure the Nigeria Police are represented here yet
@brym!: Don't mind these people who are always talking about 30th or no 30th. Some of us will always be here, as we have always been. Steady and unmoving as the Ikere-Ekiti hills
