the M600 is good, don't get me wrong, but I often get emails that I open only to get insufficient memory messages even though I have 12mb free, and then subsequently I cannot open any other messages until I power off and on. This happens daily.

I don't want to go into an M600 bug discussion here but it does answer the question/comparison of WM5 resets which I honestly rarely had to do in my last months with the k-jam (since the AKU2 update)

Just a quick reminder, at the moment the M600 is nearly 50% the price of the P990 and about 60% the price of the TyTn...

@massuer: It certainly took a long time!

The one WM5 device that does catch my eye is the Fujitsu Siemens LOOX T830. Anyone taken a look at this? You don't get a radio but you do get satNav!

Not bad but still no price on expansys.ie.....

nah, I don't like the styling with the smiley face keyboard.

I prefer the slide out landscape mode keyboard

The T830 caught my eye too, although there are two major problems preventing it from reeling me in: 1. the size of the thing and 2. the daft 240x240 screen - if smartphone devices can manage even a landscape 320x240 display I see no reason why this device should be hobled with a low res screen.

@ masseur, you've ruined it for me now with that smiley face comment. If I were to buy it, i'd be tormented by its evil grin every time I take it out of my pocket

damn you!!!!!

Still, I'm liking the UMTS, 2mp AND sat nav combo.... a clear indication of things to come?

@masseur, I like that you point the alternate PPC-PE devices. however there are some things I can disagree with. the built-in apps still dont offer you the editing functionality of the quickoffice suit; especially in MS Excel (formulas), and the retention of format of imbedded items (jpg's,charts, graphs etc). This is why its sold incredibly well on ALL smartphone formats. I like the full scroll wheel more than a spring loaded rocker (however I love the scroll sensor idea of the upcoming HTC rumored device; only). with Windows Mobile it will be changing just before years end if not early next year, so with Windows Mobile 5 it'll be all uphill with the new resolution format and apps being converted just like we're seeing in UIQ3 & S60. Saying that Windows has more apps is there - Palm OS has even more - but you're forgetting to a) count that apps are segregated currently between WinSmartPhone Ed & WinMobilePPC-PE edition, and b) just to count usuable quality apps.

HTC is kinda getting there - but first I want microsoft to decide on a singular platform, give me a decently thin (not razr esque thin) device with WiFi (802.11b/g/e), EDGE on quadbad, HSDPA on a users choice of 2100mhz OR 850/1900Mhz (Americas ), choice of querty keypad OR phonepad or combo, and with a screen that can be sweetly navigated with touch screen OR via the keypad. This last part from everything that I've seen is the speciality that ONLY the P990i gives, nothing from HTC or its 'rebranding' manufacturers offer, TyTN included. HTC being the only manufacturer of WinMobile to push for HSDPA, or EDGE or different devices is ticking me off. I dont want a monopoly! I want choice. not that the SE with UIQ is giving us but its the best design I've seen yet. Sadly no HSDPA or WiFi g! The MTeor is nice but no WiFi so I backed out of purchasing it, lovely screen on that though.

I dont want my fingers or the cream on my face to be impeding the touchscreen in 35 degree celcius weather (we got for the past 3 days here in Toronto).

I'm in the transition where my mobile phone SHOULD be my mobile office (for photos, music, blogging, the odd paper to write, working on spreadsheets - medium complexity); and my upcoming laptop is my programing learning tool.

Remember everyone always weigh you options on a Pro/Con basis even play with the competition before solidly deciding.
