@-XYZ - I thought it was obvious by their appearance these 'frame' parts was the inlays for the sides rather than the actual skeleton of the housing. I think Huiyi's English has never been perfect but his shared info has usually been spot on.

What is the approximate dimensions of the building (z3)? And these photos are real?

h
They're more real than anything you've ever posted so far.

@RickyD

Ahh, fair enough. That makes sense.
Hope it looks as beautiful and classy as the Z series.

So.. odds of them fitting a Bionz-X processor in the Z3?

I mean, they're putting it on all their cameras anyways, so might as well!

I wouldn't bet on flapless microUSB 3.0, but I would guess that this is the start of the next gen docking connector mentioned previously which ought to be waterproof (obv) and carry data and with any luck be magnetic and smaller.

I'm sightly concerned that if it is the docking connector then it isn't in the centre. This only leads is mismatched accessories that aren't cross compatible with other Sony devices.

The more I look at these they look like they belong to a lesser equipped budget version of the real Z3, maybe the Z3R or similar.

Probably without waterproofing hence slot that looks suspiciously like a standard microUSB non-waterproofed socket without a flap and no obvious docking port (which is mostly of use in waterproofed phones).

The design hints to a bulging back too which is in line with the budget, mid-range and regional/developing markets models.

I'm going to take a guess that they'll do away with the dock connector in favour of wireless charging. They already have wireless charging accessories coming for the Z2, and I'm going to guess that they'll integrate the tech into the phone for the Z3.

I can see why they would do that, but we already heard of a second gen docking port I seem to remember.

Also, wireless charging is slow and doesn't connect data. a good docking connector would solve those issues.

Well there were these rumors a while ago about Sony working on faster wireless charging for 2H 2014

There's also the possibility that we see high speed wireless charging AND an advanced docking port.
