Well, I think this is many ppl reaction after flashing firmware. Many said it crashed while you simply need to give it some time. It can took up to half to one minute before it restart after installing the firmware. Well considering you took the batt out after (not during) flashing firmware then it should be all right. You will know in few days anyway
BTW, it is a custom in my country (service centre) to say that taking out the batt while the phone is on should be minimized. Don't think it matter but I can't say for sure as I don't really know how mobile software really works.

How will i know?:p been fine so far

Yes, R1JC002 is the best firmware for K800i. I didn't found major bugs.

I updated via FOTA from R1GB001. Previously I had R1ED001 and I updated it to R1GB via SEUS.

I have the Mediterr version. The file for OTA is 2964 KB big.

yes updating does master reset...

all content on the phone memory is lost so its better to take a back-up before doing so

Updating via seus does not erase your content. Updating using third party services such as wotan will erase everything.

Hi all. I used WotanClient to flash my K800i to the latest firmware last night, and I've had no problems (didn't realise it would perform a master reset, but I didn't lose anything vital).

I would like to ask some questions and make some suggestions though:

1. The client should inform people that it will erase EVERYTHING and that people should backup before continuing. I know it should be obvious, but it caught me out and I'm reasonably tech-savvy.

2. Each firmware revision changes certain things. Is it possible to *turn off* some of the changes. For example, after flashing, my menu icons "bounce" large to small and back again. I didn't really want that, I prefer no icon animation -- so is there a way to undo or unset an option (and if not, can that flexibility be programed in?)

3. The backlight issue has to be one of the most frustrating things about this otherwise brilliant phone! The backlight will turn off after 10 seconds which sometimes isn't even long enough to think while composing a text sometimes. Can there be an option to extend the backlight time?

If not, can some enterprising soul write a Java app that could run in the background to manage the backlight, maybe dimming it after 30 seconds or so?

4. On my T610 moving the joystick would bring the phone out of standby. This doesn't happen on the K800i. Could that be an added option?

5. This phone doesn't have a very advanced contact manager -- that is, all contacts are in a long list with no grouping. However, you can set up groups if you go down a long menu path (I think the groups are for texting). As a workaround, I would like to make a shortcut to the groups menu, but can't as the GUI stands. Would it be possible to make the shortcut system more flexible and go to sub, or subsub menus?

6. Is it possible to put the "new contact" button at the bottom of the list or off the list altogether? How often does one really add a new contact?..

I know this are a lot of requests here. As a web designer/developer I do a lot of GUI and interaction testing and have ideas to offer, I just don't know if a) the ideas are possible to implement and b) if the Wotan guys will take suggestions on board? I'm really impressed that they can do what they do though, and I hope they're good guys who listen to what average users suggest?

Thanks everyone.
