What do you mention with (NOW)? Iphone 5 allready competing with Sony the Xperia S/P and Xperia T, it's not special phone the Iphone 5. The only what the Iphone 5 better is the CPU department, just like the SGS3 has over the Xperia T or S or the P but the rest is those Xperia's department over them. Screen/Built quality design/camera and performance thanks with the optimization of Sony, but no one mention on that, it's always the CPU that count by many ignorant people.

The only thing that makes the IPhone better is the superior quality of the apps offered in iOS. Apart from that, the Iphone already is a dime a dozen

Intel Atom powered Lenovo IdeaPhone K900 benchmarks are astronomical
People who had the chance to run AnTuTu on the device got results of 25,000 points and above, with a best score (so far) in the lower 27,000's.
That is almost twice as high as ARM based quad core phones.
More competition will lead to more innovation and faster SoC.
Sony new patents in 2012.
IBM led the list last year, receiving 6,478 patents or more than 17 a day. That is a lot of innovation and it also was the 20th year that IBM was on top. Right behind Big Blue was Samsung as Apple's rival scored 5,081 new patents. Japanese manufacturer
Sony ranked fourth with 3,032 patents and Microsoft was sixth with 2,613 awards. Foxconn placed eighth with 2,013.

Not possible since the 800 series will be available in H2.
Benchmarking CES 2013's flagship smartphones
Z/ZL beat all the competitors with the APQ8064.

Didn't see this already mentioned, but Sony Mobile might eventually get out of the low end entry level phone market
http://www.fiercewireless.com[....]l-smartphone-market/2013-01-11
I do have to wonder how much money Sony really makes from that part of the market. I personally won't miss it if they got rid of that market, but of course I imagine it would affect their marketshare. On the other hand, by getting rid of entry level machines they will make their products seem more premium to the public as a whole. This will also allow Sony to focus on fewer phones to hopefully make them better and support better.
