yeah thats what I thought too. Can't be a software thing, must be one heck of a software calibration to work this good. No point of putting x reality, they can just make a 1 software for both.

Yeah, Sony Store in Canada got both the Z1 and ZU available to check out. Sad news is they might not get it at the same time as Bell and Rogers on Oct 15. I preordered mine and I asked the sales person they said they werent sure. The Z1 display unit was ultra bright compare to the ZU, color don't seems to shift when I tilt it.

i'm not sure i believe the old panel reuse thing. but hey, anything's possible. i just think there is some QC issues sony needs to take care of and they do need to start using screens that no one will ever complain about. For a flagship device, i think it should be a given for a company with a display reputation such as Sony. If i were kaz, and i read reviews on the web that my flagship smartphone had a poor display in any way, I would be firing some people.
the tmobile USA thing seems suspicious to me. It doesn't look right.. but it sounds like we were predicting.
@vikeviki - i don't have that line but i don't know if it is a defect. If you're unhappy with it, just take it back and get a different one.

They also got the ZU, ZU is smaller to me in person than I had imagine. The official launch for Bell and Rogers is Oct 15, the sales person at Sony store told me they are not sure if they will be getting theirs on the same day. I think the reason why Sony decide to launch in Canada first is because they only has a small amount of stocks for the C6906 and the Canadian market is tiny. They want to launch in the US with a decent amount of stocks. 700 Hz spectrum is also going up for bid soon in Canada, launch with C6906 only in CA also make sense.

Agree, but we have to separate what Zomg thinks and what he heard, like the triluminos thing it was just what he thinks. As for the panel lottery, he got that info from the Sony supply chain, his sauce has a pretty good track record. It does make sense though that the C6902 launched in China first and being cheaper than C6903 when I saw it.

Design: nothing to say here, I've seen a white and a black one... And they are gorgeous (for me especially the black one)...! It is not so heavy as a lot of person says and nor thick! It's thin but strong! THAT ALUMINIUM FRAME!!!
Also I asked for a G2 to see a comparison and design wise (f**k the bezels) the z1 is on another level! It was perfect as a unit! Not a single production defect! I liked the grill on the lower side!!!
Only thing the power button is littler than the Z or Zl! I liked the bigger button more! But stil it's th most awesome phone I'va seen...! HANDS DOWN!
Also it is big! But perfectly usable for me! I reached all the screen with my thumb and a single hands! And the big bezel are actually useful!
Display: I think it was an AVCA or an IPS because it was stellar! Till 60/70 degrees it was perfect and the colours were awesome rich and warm...! Black very deep and also it was so bright! Really really bright! And also sharp and with milky white! I put it against the s4 and it was way better (except viewing angles) the G2 also ha s a great screen! But head on the Z1 wins!
Sound: I expected the stereo speaker to be weaker from your comments... But it's loud!!! Way more than s3, g2 or the z! The s4 and the HtcOne are more powerful and. The HTC one is cleaner... But is way more powerful than I expected!

Software and UI: it's Sony! So unobtrusive UI which I found so classy, 3 small apps at a time is useful the media apps are gorgeous and it so smooth I couldn't believe my eyes! I remember lags on the z when I tried it (small) but here the phone runs perfectly:D
For me is a 97/100
(I had not impression for battery, photo and extensive use but I'm completely convinced that it will be my next phone)
I LOVE YOU SONY!
