Only Xperia Play will have this option.

Is that 100% confirmed that only XPERIA Play will get that feature to disable the automatic brightness? How come SE wouldn't enable it on the other XPERIA devices? When I am at a room that has low lighting, the screen can get pretty dim too. By the way, I own an XPERIA mini and I am contemplating on whether to switch to XPERIA Ray hoping that I get an Auto-Brightness enable/disable option.

Xperia Ray (with stock 2.3.3) does NOT have automatic screen brightness. You set brightness level manually and it doesn't ever change

considering this instead of mini pro(still waiting for o2 to get them)

the reviews mention wifi issues have you suffered any ive a zte blade which is so temperamental with signal an connecting id like to avoid getting a phone with not so good wifi

with it having a odd screen size have you found problems with apps an games can it handle the latest hd gameloft games with reasonable audio quality ?

i guess i can use the led as a flash light ?

i loved the xperia pros corner icon docks has the ray got this or know how i add it

how does the headphone socket feel the zte blades just didn't snap in a positive way

how does your ray handle content on iplayer 4od an demand5

thanks all

@daydotz, I too loved my Mini Pro's corner icons, and the new xperia mini line's multi-app corner icons as well. But alas, the ray doesn't have these. But you can make the 4 apps at the main bar folders.

no automatic screen brightness with the ray. maybe it doesn't have the light sensor? So far, I'm loving it...

Putting together a comprehensive review... will keep everyone posted.

Please include:
* VERY IMPORTANTLY, the TOUCH SCREEN SENSITIVITY, please.
* some camera samples (in bright light, night time, real low light photos, with the photo light)
* Audio clarity (not how loud the sound is, but the clarity of the sound, please)
* typing on the keyboard (with and without swipe)
* battery life
* screen; how pleasing it's for eyes?
* miscellaneous.
Please consider this as a humble plea and do consider it. i'm planning to buy the ray and wouldn like to know whether it's worth my money.

Think most (if not all) of them actually got that option 2.3.4.

Not sure but I was read summary software review about android 2.3.4 of xperia 2011 line up by xperiablog.

They wrote that Arc / Neo / Ray in 2.3.4 still did not included an automatic brightness option.

That is good news. Although I am a bit confused. On paper, the ambient light sensor is listed as one of the features of the RAY. In the XPERIA mini, the light sensor is located at the topmost part of the screen to the far right if you are facing the display. If you cover it, the screen display dims out dramatically.

May be it's similar to the Arc? I have heard no issues about the screen brightness getting erratic on the Arc or Neo. But I wonder why people complained about it on the PLAY?
