On last Thursday I passed through Kings Cross tube, on my daily commute to work, immediately before the bomb went off. I have gone through various emotions since then, ranging from relief that I was unhurt, to guilt that I was ok whilst others were dead or injured. This has carried through into severe sorrow for the victims, and anger directed at the perpetrators of the killings. In all my contemplations, race, religion or creed has not been a feature. The acts of these monstrous people were indiscriminate, in so much as they were willing to kill anyone in their path, regardless of race or religion.
In my opinion, this is a time for people to come together, and not to create further divides between religious groupings. These terror bombs are not an issue of ethnicity nor religious standpoints, they are about humanity... If we can show our humanity through tolerance and understanding, then we will have defeated the terrorists inhumane goals.
In the wake of the bombings I have felt helpless with regard to helping the victims. I have found a small solace in being able to donate money to the victims through the Red Cross. If you should also wish to make a donation, here are the details:

by telephone on 08705 125 125
by post to: London Bombings Relief Charitable Fund, c/o The Mayor of London, Freepost LON18968, Sheffield S98 1ZA

You stole my sig!
I posted the British Red Cross donation details a few days ago and I'm glad you posted them again. I can't make the bombs go away but by making a donation I at least think I've done *something*.
In the news today:
Can you believe it? All our leaders, and Londoners in general, are all of one mind - we will not cower, it's business as usual and simultaneously American service personel are being banned from inside the M25 area.
This concerns me on two levels - firsty, why this mixed message? Do they not think London safe? and, secondly, do they have specific threat intelligence that is not being made public.
US troops ordered to avoid London
Here's the text of a broadcast by Brian Walden in his little "Point of View" slot. I generally appreciate his wise and calm approach to a whole manner of subjects.

@absinthebri
Regarding US servicemen being told not to go London, I have just seen John Reid on BBC News 24, where he was saying that the decision was made on friday. At that time, general advice to londoners was not much different, so I don't think it's too much to worry about. I would presume that it's pretty standard operating procedure during such events as occurred.
