The plastic has a different finish, which means one of the prototypes is an older device. Satio prototypes had matte housing, while retail models has glossy.

This does not mean one of the devices is a finished product!

There is a pool of hardware that everyone takes a dip into. Dual core processors can be found in LG and Samsung, you'll see others will take the processors as well e.g. but obviously they take much longer than everyone else which makes them seem incompetent but they do have the hardware. Its obvious that every company has a good idea as to what everyone else is doing which is why most have very similar hardware. There's nothing secretive because Qualcomm for example will go to everyone looking for big contracts.

There are certain technologies that are company specific such as the camera module and this is where the difference can be made i.e. if implement the 16MP sensor. Samsung have the super AMOLED which they market strongly and now have a good reputation for their screens. Lets say that by the end of 2011, everyone will have a dual core device, if Walkman or Cybershot or PlayStation makes that slight difference its worth marketing.

Strategy is the biggest problem not the lack of innovation because if you look at Sony products, there is so much amazing kit there already. Entertainment Unlimited means nothing and Xperia means 'average' now. It should be that there are low, mid and high end Cybershots and Walkmans. Cybershots get a higher MP count than Walkmans while they get a dedicated music chip. This means that the Cybershots still have good music but not as good as the Walkmans etc. Give them both stripped Android with minimal interference. As for Xperia, give that the highest camera sensor, dedicated music chip, Time/Mediascape on Android or WP7.

Whenever I speak to an audiophile, they say that music is 10% hardware, 10% mp3 file and 80% headphones. The same can be said for phones and with all that glorious Sony technology and brand names like Bravia at their disposal, they should have this wrapped up.

Why should not put their interface in Cybershot and Walkman phones? I don't care whether it's, say, mediascape or the good old ordinary Media menu (found in the A200 phones as well as Satio and Vivaz) - I think they should customize the OS. But only the Xperia phones should have both great imaging and sound quality.
I'm not an audiophile but I agree that the head-/earphones make difference. That's why I was disappointed with the ones in Vivaz' box (unlike the ones I found in W595's one when I bought it more than a year and half ago). That's why I think SE should put better earphones for their Walkman and Xperia devices.

Is it safe to say that Entertainment Unlimited is more or less dead?

Aside from the original launch, there has been little (Vivaz?) if any other phones announced since.

Maybe these Vivaz successors will be Entertainment Unlimited devices?

Also, USB OTG on the Anzu is a great feature to have, and with the addition of a nice office app there could be some really interesting uses for this feature.

Naah. I haven't been silenced by anyone. I just don't want to argue anymore.
Waiting for the announcements to begin
